I have a few steep spots where these new tires are still a bit sketchy, especially if the grass is tall and slippery, but honestly I should be doing those areas with the weed Wacker anyway. I can definitely go much steeper than with the stock slicks. Overall the traction has improved by more than double. The only down side is that I leave gouges here and there. Once I get all the mowed areas graded properly I'll likely go back to a less aggressive tire. I only need these to get me through while everything is still rough.
But yeah, huge improvement in traction.

Had a flat while mowing the back yard today. Instead of just plugging it, I decided to use the AT tires pulled off my golf cart since they were the same wheel size. The stock rubber kept peeling out/spinning on wet grass so killed 2 birds with 1 stone.

Also, turned her into a Big Booty Judy. These balloons raised me up some - my normal blade height was at 3 and now I have to run it at 2

Wow! Had no idea there was such a thread!

I'll have to get the wife to take some pics (I have no functioning camera) but right now we mow with two Toro zero-turns, a 60 inch and a 50 inch cut. We also have a Husqvarna 48 inch cut riding mower with tire chains we use on hills.

Main mower still a Troy Bilt TB 230 self propelled.

    Pics inbound.

    Push or self propelled?

If the latter, front or rear wheel drive?

We do fine with the TB 230 but I think mine is having some fuel feed issues. She'll miss on a hill if the fuel tank is on the downhill side.

Self Propelled. Rear wheel drive. 3 speeds. Transmission on it is built like a tank. From a lawnmower standpoint. She’s got some weight to her. 125 lbs. But you don’t even feel the weight with the gears and it also helps preventing the mower from bouncing, so it leaves that carpet like cut. Literally has a diff cover with metal fins to pull heat off. Tires are also a soft rubber compound as to not damage grass.

Nice machines, we use them at work
Cheaper than Honda's almost as durable

Edit; Use pure gas no ethanol if possible

Only thing that ever gets used in any of my lawn equipment, 2 stroke or 4, is 93 non ethanol. Haha

This 20 year old Stanley is in the shop right now, I think it needs a carburetor.
I'll keep it as a back up to the Troy Built and use it as a brush cutter.

    IMG_0494.jpg

This 15 year old Honda powered Troy Built is my current go-to push mower.
I replaced some carburetor parts, but it still surges a bit.
It will go to the shop if/when the Stanley is running reliably, or during the winter.

    IMG_0892.jpg

My 15 year old Husqvarna tractor just returned from the shop last Friday after a full service including new tires, this will keep me from pushing the Troy Built as much as I had been this season.

    IMG_0417.jpg

In my youth I worked on a golf course using all sorts of grass cutting machines and I also worked for a lawn maintenance company ... I have had my fill of cutting grass, this is why the size of my "lawn" that requires maintenance is continually shrinking.

Nice, thank you. A bit heavy for the wife and I to lift into and out of the Tundra's bed in case we were out without the trailer (which we still are sometimes). We still have our ramps though. How much that baby put you back?

I use 87 non ethanol in all my mowing machines with 93 octane non ethanol for the 2 stroke mix. Seems to be working fine, even without cutting off the fuel flow and running the carb bowl dry at season's end.
