Just here to say I've never seen that color available outside of the 1794 edition, let alone a DC. That's awesome!!

If you are in the Seattle area, I think the closest non-ethanol fuel pump is at the Grange in Issaquah.

This may sound strange but what about letting your insurance agent know you’re leaving and that your wife if is gonna be the only driver until you return...?

Covers can cause scratches to the finish over time, especially where there is contact between the cover and the finish and movement of the cover occurs.

I would consider a sealant with UV protection. Klasse is one such sealant- an acrylic that lasts a year or so.

The tires (and flat spots that can occur when the vehicle sits) are a point of disagreement. The people I know with the most stored vintage cars (which can sit for months or years) do not take the precaution of jack stands. When flat spots have occurred, even a short drive restores the tire’s shape. Some of the tires I have seen date back into the 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s.

They do employ full gas tanks with stabil, trickle chargers, and methods to prevent rodents.

However, I only know folks who store their classics (including mine) indoors. and these are all old cars... 40-100 years. A new car sitting is likely to have a different set of concerns associated with being mothballed.

I don’t see how putting the vehicle on jack stands could hurt anything, but I don’t know it’s entirely necessary, unless there is guidance related to the TPM hardware.

I agree with all of this. Instead of covering it, I would give it a good wash wax before leaving it. To me, a good coat of wax will protect it better. A cover will be a pain for your wife and once the truck gets dirty, she will likely scratch it as she slides around while there is dirt on there.

I put a 2 year old car into storage for 17 months in 2008 when I went to Iraq for 16 months. Disconnected the battery, put desiccant packets all over the interior of the car, put a bottle of Heet in the gas tank, put a cover on (although it was under overhead cover) and wanted to put it on jack stands but they wouldnt let me.

And how did everything work out? Were the tires ok in the end?

It was all good. I got back to my baby, reconnected th4e battery and it fired right up no problem. No flat spots on the tires from sitting so long or anything. Good to go.
