Finally got my truck back two days ago. Dont know why it took them that long long to fix but I'm happy w the outcom. Replaced full bumper and parts behind it. Paint tailgate and right quarter panel and replace hitch tongue. Not the ball or hitch. Would've been worse for me if I didnt have it in. I'm glad I always do. They only hit me going about 20. When the bumper was re moved I witness that everything was ok. I didnt leave it up to the repair shop for only their visual. I'm good. No bent frame here . Thank you all and safe trucking.

Glad it fixed up ok for you.
As for the leave hitch on/off, I have my own opinion. Mr. Alien been hit 3 or 4 times on my previous Tundra. Worst was bumper replacement as the car slid below a little and pushed bumper up and bent it up. Never any damage to body panels. Rear ended on freeway and surface streets. Mr. Alien is a bit bent but that's ok. If I get hit hard enough to bend the frame, well, that much energy directed to the wimpy bumper and body panels would probably still be a major repair at least or a total anyway. Besides, it would have hit the hitch part that sticks out anyway so what's the difference. Love my Alien friend.

LOVED by me. I've been hit twice in my 4WD T100. Always have the hitch on. Both times slow speed in evening commute traffic while I was stopped. Both times as the traffic advanced I just pulled away to look in the mirror and see the stupid phvck stuck there with a gaping hole in the front of their car. One of them the coolant was already pouring out. I simply went home and opened a beer.

Hopefully everything works out for you, infuriating as hell when this happens. Agree 100% on leaving a receiver in all the time!

I had my recover hitch on when I got rear ended. It saved the tailgate but energy all went to the frame. Over $5000 in damages.
Same thing, small car speed limit was 35, wasn’t paying attention, my truck didn’t look bad at all.

Every night when I go out in the garage it seems I bang my knee on the darn thing walking around the back of the truck.
