My wife and I are thinking about going to Las Vegas for our anniversary in September.Any pointers on what to do or not do and where to go and not go? I live in Tennessee but was born in Chicago.Figure that out!

 

The 31st should work unless I go out of town for the Labor Day weekend.

Really depends on your interests and what you have time for.

My recommendations when friends/family come:
-Red Rock
-Valley of fire
-Hoover Dam/Lake Mead (A Lake Mead Dinner Cruise makes for a romantic dinner and really good sunset views of the Lake. Also the “short” side of the dam).
-A cirque du soleil show. My preference is “O”. Or Le Reve at Wynn.
-Mob Museum
-Neon Graveyard
-The Link and High Roller (Big Ferris Wheel in the middle of the strip)
-The casinos are all pretty much the same from the inside. There are several free shows from outside. The best being the fountains of Belagio in my opinion. The Belagio also has an amazing botanical garden inside with sculptures made from flowers and plants. This display changes seasonally, so it’s never the same.
-As for variety of bars and restaurants I’d recommend the Cosmopolitan. But you have literally thousands of options everywhere in town.

Fridays usually work for me. Just not the 28th I will be out of town sitting on the beach. I am off Mon-Wed. Then Thu and Fri I don't go in until 10pm. Saturday and Sunday is hard because I work 12 hours shifts those days.

 

Are you able to make it on the 31st? I'm sure we can try to set up a meet before your shift.

 

No I am out of town from 28th - 4th and then I leave again on the 9th until the 23rd.

 

Well if everyone is down to meet up this friday the 24th that would work too.

I think it’s going to be difficult finding a day that meets everyone’s schedule. Best thing imo is to schedule something about 4-6 weeks out and those that can show will, otherwise those that can’t may make the next one another 4-6 weeks after.

 

I was thinking the same thing but I figured if folks have a set schedule it may or may not make a difference. I do think those that meet up soon can set up the next meet.

 

I’m off fri, sat & sun. Whatever time and place you guys decide, if it works for me I’ll be there.

So it looks like the majority rules and this meet will be this Friday August 24th at 7PM.
Location will be at the smiths grocery store parking lot located on the South East corner of Silverado Ranch/S. Maryland parkway.

There is a big open parking lot next to a Starbucks on the south side of the grocery store plaza. The address for smiths is 9750 S. MARYLAND PRKWY, LAS VEGAS, NV, 89183.

from there we can talk for a bit, introduce one another, take pictures, and from there I'm thinking of a secondary place where we all can cruise to, park, take more pictures and grab a bite. I think a good food truck spot would be perfect. Please let me know what you all think! For those who haven't replied to the roll call feel free to update on if you can make it or not! Hope to see everyone there!

 

I’ll be late but I’ll be there. Probably only about 15 minutes late.

 

Just my opinion, but you should meet at the place you’re going to hang out at.. makes it easier. Last time we meet up at a beer brewery.. lots of parking area, checked out all the trucks. Then went in and had some cold ones .. plenty of spots to meet up at with large area

 

I'll probably keep that in mind for future meets. I think the idea of cruising in the streets with a pack of tundras would be cool. We can give this meet a shot. Also my wife and 2 kids are gonna be with me for this one. The parking lot location is a pretty good size and is close walking distance to a Starbucks. A more smaller cars and coffee theme was what I was "somewhat" trying to imitate. But you have a great opinion. I'm def looking forward to something like that in the near future.
