Ah, thanks. I haven't found a stretch of road that it doesn't ping pong, so I've never experience what you described.

I much prefer "lane departure" mode to "lane centering" mode most of the time. I found land departure very useful when I was driving through the national park and looking out the side windows as it was keeping me from running off the road. Lane centering only works when Radar cruise control is engaged (and you've enabeled centering in the Menu). It's not bad for highway travel, you can stay in the center lane and the truck drives itself (until the road changes with splits and merges). The center mode does kind of bug me when I use it, however, because it's always making micro-adjustements to the steering and you feel it when holding on to the wheel. I can keep the truck centered much better myself without jerking the wheel around like I've had too much caffeine.

    None. Bone stock 1794 non-TRD.

I do run slightly larger than stock AT tires, but I don't think they have anything to do with the ping ponging. As I said earlier, my truck tracks very straight when Lane Centering isn't on.

I feels like the system is late to react, then over-corrects the other direction. Back and forth in a constant hunt for the center that spans around 12" to either side.

Hmmmmm.... mine does not toggle between the 3 modes. If lane centering is off in the MID it does not come on with the LTA button on the steering wheel no matter how many times I push it. If lane centering is on in the MID, then it does activate when I push the LTA button once and the MID displays a message that both LTA and lane centering are on. And yes, radar cruise was on when I tried this. Not a biggie, just doesn’t work like yours seems to.

My apologies. My post above was wrong (I have added a note at the bottom on it with the correction).

To deactivate or activate lane departure warning and lane centering altogether, you hold the steering wheel button down for 3 seconds. If it's enabled, I get white lines only when in just lane departure mode (pinball effect) and it adds blue lines if in lane centering mode.

Per the manual, certain conditions will also deactivate lane departure mode temporarily.

    Sorry for any confusion.

I don't like it. I find the corrections it makes to be jarring, and I would rather have the compass on my HUD anyways.

I've used it for about 3 miles in 3 months of ownership.

Lane centering is a big help when driving 15 hours to Mississippi from PA in one day. Cuts down on brain fatigue. Nice to look away for a few seconds, and not have to stare at the road 100% of the time.

I actually paid a lot of attention to how mine worked on Saturday's hour drive. There's two main roads I use on this frequent route, 2 lane county highway and 4 lane state highway. The 2 lane has lines that are not a bright or crisp, which I thought was why it didn't work as well on that stretch. What I noticed this weekend is that the lines are not perfectly straight. They are a bit wavy, and sure enough my Tundra would try to follow all those little waves. To make that worse the road itself was wavy, making lines that were straight appear wavy. Again, the lane centering tried to follow. Most all that was subtle, but I was able to predict what it was going to do. The 4 lane highway lines were done by professionals apparently, as they were crisp and straight, and of course that's were lane centering works best.

Turns out my Tundra was "centering" by following the solid line. The straighter the line, the smoothing lane centering worked.

Well, that doesn't work either. I know if you hold the cruise control power for a couple of seconds it goes to normal cruise instead of radar.

This is exactly how mine works too.

And as stated, pressing and holding the cruise On button for a few seconds will turn on regular cruise instead of adaptive.

Starting to wonder if the 2023s are different than my 2022 (which has all the updates as far as I know).

I actually hope they don't change it as I do like it how it is, with the exception that I wish the lane centering mode could be a bit smoother (less steering wheel motion) - like my 2015 Lexus GS450h. I do really like it in the Tundra for longer trips in windy conditions. Much less fatiguing for those drives.
