Is the TRD kit worth it? I have a 2021 TRD Off Road and it drives and handles pretty well, much better than my 2013 for sure.

Yes, it will be the most noticeable thing you do to your truck's drivability. You will notice it as an improvement immediately!

I’ve installed a few of these over the years and everyone says cornering is much better afterwards.

Pull a trailer? It helps control sway. Also safer if you have to do a emergency lane change or going through a corner that was sharper than you expected.

I bought a knockoff TRD rear sway bar. Once received I could tell why it was so cheap...It's light AF. If I had to guess it was made out of EMT conduit versus the official TRD sway bar that is steel and had much more heft to it. I returned the knockoff and got the real deal instead.

Depends on the knock off you bought. I also see you have a 3rd gen.

I have a 3rd gen now. I had a 2007 Tundra before that with a metric ton of mods. As far as the knock off sway bar goes, I'm just putting the word out that not all knock offs are of the same quality as OEM. In my experience, it wasn't even close.

Yes there are some very cheap knock offs but the bar the the OP was asking about has since been purchased and installed without complaints of it being lightweight and cheap feeling.

Mine wasn't cheap feeling or light weight. It was also solid steel and not hollow. Some sway bars are hollow. Some sway bars are solid.

It's also just a sway bar. Not vehicle survivability critical. If a link breaks, the worst case is you now have no sway bar action. Not like it's going to frag an engine or detonate a t-case or something.

I don't have to make a point or prove anything. All I am saying is you don't know what you putting in your truck. Would you rather buy a steak from a butcher shop or from a guy who drives down the street with an ice box? Kind of like that analogy :) For few $$ you save, you don't know what steak you're eating :) But hey, your money, your truck, your parts. Keep on trucking till that steak comes out the other way :)

Been on my wish-list and my birthday is next week... Pulled the Amazon trigger moments ago, Russian Roulette style - too. My $0.12 ...

There were three left (now two -- Search Alt Part: SC-K0156AN) at $0.12 less than the Mulan PTR11 in this thread.

I like the Black-Out POR15 idea... My Tundra is black. But, red bling is also cool. Likely mount it as is and think about it. Pull it off, sandblast it and have it powdered black later... perhaps.

Will report back on any hassles. But, I have difficulty with paying 120% more for a 'three letter sticker.'

What makes us sure the OEM isn't a knock off that is copying an aftermarket version?

I'm pretty sure Toyota does not have a sway bar manufacturing devision.

It's just a sway bar that only helps with body roll during hard turns.

It's still a truck that handles like a turd compared to a Porsche.

Red paint and 3 letters does not equal $200 more in value.

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/knockoff = KnockOffs cheap and fake china shit with lower quality material and labor, just simple as that.

Yes Toyota may not have a sway bar manufacturing division but they hold the patent and the specs by which a 3rd company will build them by in Toyotas behalf. There is QA involved and so on.

    We think alike, I think.

PS: Off topic... Bravo! Encore! My friends on iFish would appreciate your drift boat build... especially a fellow known as TinMan, who built an epoxy stitch-n-glue 16 foot wherry and rowed it 25 miles to sea (twice) just to catch an albacore tuna Old Man and the Sea style. I have used the same avatar there since prior to site migration after which they removed all my posts on the Harvey Dory (Fan Club) concerning my Harvey dory ground-up restoration. Several others have since restored them also. If I knew welding as you do, I'd give it a go and save a buck and/or have a great time building a drift boat. They are widely used to catch salmon here on the west coast.

The facts say otherwise. We are still waiting for you to find an instance of the OPs sway bar causing problems or failing.

Thanks for the compliment. I'll have to check the Ifish site. Never been there.

Those aren’t facts - just unrepresented samples. Lack of evidence isn’t evidence of lacking. Just sayin…

You'll enjoy it there and fit right in (there can be smack, as everywhere).

Say howdy! I'll introduce you around... I mostly haunt The Salty Dogs.

A few names to watch (these are all friends): Jennie@ifish - creator / former owner, TinMan; EdSr; Gun Rod Bow; Mark Mc; Puffin; DoryDrifter; Han Solo, aka/formerly Carkington; Soaker <- builds/owns Breaker Dory, new tech!)

I've not been on since I bought this silly Tundra and got distracted. But... it's not fishing season! Send me a PM.
