What do you sharpen with the diamond stones? The only time I used it to sharpen something was a ceramic knife that I bought for my wife. She quit using it because she cut something on a dish and it exploded. I use it to keep my stones flat.

My friend just sharpened our German kitchen knives with a Tormek, and wow! It took some skill for sure, but they are amazingly sharp now.

I have a worksharp combo sharpener and am not that impressed. Just got some different belts, so maybe that will help.

Following here to find something better.

    Currently fieldstripping my leek.

Used a Lansky for years but my goto now seems to be my pull though sharpener by Cutco. 3 pulls puts a super sharp 15 degree edge on both sides. I inherited a couple straight razors from my grandfather's barbershop along with his leather strop. Wish I knew how to use it.

I used a Lansky for a long time, too. I will try Cutco. I have a Ken Onion which is ok, but having to change belts and wearing out the rests seems excessive. Pull through really do seem the most efficient and least complex of the systems. If I could keep a perfect symmetrical angle with my wrist I would return to a flat whetstone.

Might be blasphemy but I'll use a $20 pull thru sharpener on some $200+ pocket knives. I started to nerd out on angled and profiles and came to the conclusion that I just want my knifes sharp. I'm brutal on anything I carry.

Perfect edges take time and skill. There's no way around it.

I also have the work sharp Ken onion. Works great on my kitchen knifes and yard tools. I've used it on my pocket knifes too.
