If the lower shock mount is indexed too far towards the front of the truck, the shock will reach its minimum length and if the axle path is not mechanically limited via bumpstop that kinetic energy is transferred from the axle tube, through the now mechanical solid shock assembly and into the the upper shock mount. Something is likely to give….

The 3.0’s are overkill and you want to dump them…but you’re planning a Camburg relocation kit for the rear?

Based on my experience, I’d guess the only thing that will give your front a fighting chance at keeping up with a rear like you’re describing will be the 3.0 coil overs.

Yes, I kept the 3.0’s. Asking questions and reading through this forum has helped me appreciate what I have. Thanks guys.

Ah, I must have missed that reading through the thread.

I think you’ll be pretty happy with those big ass coil overs paired up with a new rear suspension. Deaver springs with some bypass shocks out back will definitely tame some pretty gnarly bumps. Let us know how that Camburg relocate kit works out. What rear shocks are you planning on?

I’d also recommend some duro bumps for the front to replace the stock bumps. They definitely take some of the harshness out of bigger hits and only cost like $100 or something. Definitely worth the coin imo.

    Get some, man!

It rides great man! I ordered direct from Daniel at Camburg. Service was great and he answered all my questions. I got the kit and shocks together, the shocks are SPEC for this kit from King for Camburg. I don’t think Remote Resi’s are an option.

you can indeed order smoothbody 2.5 or 3.0 x12 smooth body shocks for the kit.

What are you seeing as a benefit with remote reservoir bypasses in the rear?

Did you do the welding yourself? I've been trying to find someone local who understand the meaning of "cycling" the suspension but no dice.

Rather than taking the leaf packs apart to max out travel, it seems like a fella could lift a front tire with a forklift till the rear tire just comes off the ground. Use the driver’s side for example. That would compress the passenger rear pretty good, and fully-ish extend the driver rear. Since the shocks are outboard of the spring, it’ll create a longer extended measurement for the shock than jumping the truck.

I’d think if you set your new 12” shock to be a 1/2” from full extension at this point you’d be in pretty good shape. With the shocks both mounted foreword of the axle, you’re going to get quite a bit more than 12” of vertical use from that shock. Not saying what your travel numbers will be, just that a 12” shock will go a long ways like this…

Obviously, the process above doesn’t take bypass tube location into account. I’m not sure if this will put you in the “ride zone” correctly…
