Not at all, when I went to shop for the new Sequoia, I had to point out some of the new features of the vehicle.
At that point, just give me a price and let's get it over with.

Key fob works without subscription but it does not if you opt out of connected services.

This is the new norm with manufacturers these days....unfortunately for the consumer. Paying for subscriptions.

This worked for me in 23 tundra pro, no subscription.

    Press lock
    Press lock
    Hold lock 8 seconds.

How can you be opted in to connected services without a subscription? I thought they relied on each other.

I didn’t spend the money to just swap out stuff.
To one up toyota/tundra even more, your wifes kia probably lets me take off with just a USB cable as well. ☠️

I read the whole damn manual and never caught that I could do that with the key fob. Thank you (and others) for saying it here. Starting it like that just put a smile on my face.
By the time the stupid app loads, throws notifications at me, and then decides to tell me remote command failed (because that signal has to go half way around the world for some reason first)- it would have been less aggravating to just sit in the car for 2 minutes.
Using the key fob is so much better!

THIS ^, 10 min timer AND if you want to shut it off before 10 mins is up remotely, just push the Fob Unlock button. After it’s off, relock the truck. I believe all Toyotas with Safety Sense have FOB remote start without any App or Subscription.

im already looking for a replacement too. The fortin evo-one lte looks nice. It’s paid sub for 3 years $129. Way cheaper than yota plus it will stay running after opening the door.

My 2022 passed the one year mark this past October, the subscription expired, and the FOB start still works. That is, when I’m close enough, and get the timing right, which doesn’t happen often

So can a DBag punch out your window, hop in, and drive away?

lol I don’t know. I doubt that would work though. I had a fortin on my last truck and it worked well though.

I have a 22 I purchased used and it will not remote start with the fob. I do not have a subscription so I'm assuming it's tied to that.

Ok guys, I confirmed that remote start is a capability of ALL smart keys- even without a paid subscription. As others mentioned, get your timing right:
    lock, lock, and hold lock.
Why doesn’t it say this in the manual?
