Totally stumped. Everything works except Fm/AM reception is really bad. I get one station clearly. Double checked antenna cable is plugged in and factor connector is going to white adapter with little blue wire hanging off.

Triple checked....FM antenna is hooked up. I get GPS/Sirius fine but nothing but static from all but the radio station that is literally in my town. Not a big deal as I almost never listen to FM but it's bugging me because unless one of the adapter harnesses is defective it should work.

It’s gorgeous. Everything works except FM/AM. Only downside is even in its highest screen position it completely covers the HVAC display - but I’m also 6’5”. My 5’2” wife can see them just fine!

BTW...shout out to James at Tech12Volts. My entire system is from him and not only is the price always right but he calls me to answer my stupid questions which turned out to be entirely my fault for not reading the instructions all while he's fishing on a Saturday night.

There is a plastic cover piece between the base and screen that MUST be in place for it to power up. It has a piece on it that must depress a button when in place. It was right there in the instructions but you know...I'm a guy so I don't need instructions...

Got my head out of my ass and figured some things out. Cleaned up my harness and got rid of a bunch of wires and taped everything off. In the 2020 the antenna is powered. Also realized screen was in lowest position and raised it up. No AC controls are in view!

Is there any way to adjust it left or right? Or is it only up and down?

You only need the DSR1 if you keep the OEM HU. Once you switch to an aftermarket HU you no longer need it and connection between HU and amp is via RCAs. BUT you still need something to give you full functionality of things like the steering wheel controls and to integrate with the vehicle - most use something like a TO3 harness with an iDatalink Maestro.

Sounds great but the big difference is the screen and functionality is superior to the stock HU. It's also been rock solid...I had one random restart a few weeks into owning it which was many many months ago and it's been like a rock since. My stock HU was also sorts of a mess.

Hi Crew- has anyone had issues with their auto headlights after install? Didn’t see a place to plug in the ambient light sensor on the new head unit and mine aren’t working. They come on manually, but no go on the auto turn on.
    Thoughts?

I have had the illumination wire connected and then disconnected to check that. Crutchfield and maestro are lost.

Nope...no issues with lights. Although I have had the HU restart twice now in the last week. In both situations, Waze was on via Carplay and I wasn't listening to anything - volume was muted. It had happened once before this right after the install but has been stable for months. Are there any software updates yet?

Thanks. Mind me asking if you plugged your ambient light sensor in somewhere? I didn’t see anywhere to plug in or a harness for it.

And I haven’t seen any updates yet.

I have to be honest...I pulled the harness apart a few times and I don't specifically remember other than to say I followed the wiring diagram for the TO3. Sorry...

I’m 99% sure that sensor does not plug into the HU. Can you post a pic of what you’re referring to? I only disconnected the wire on the sensor end when I removed the center speaker cover.

I have the DNR1007XR(version with Garmin GPS) and had several random resets as well as a couple freezes within the first 2 weeks. There was an update for mine and after installing the update it went weeks without an issue until another random reset yesterday.

Interesting...I got an error trying to update this AM - something like this, "This Update has been corrupted" and it rebooted without completing. I didn't have time to mess with it so after work I'll download the update again and try a different USB drive.

FYI...the update process is sketchy! It errored twice right after it asked me if I wanted to update. Each time after 2 mins it would say the update data was corrupted and then it would restart. I left the USB in and went to look up the error and on the third restart, it started updating. After about 5 mins it said the update would continue after another restart, which it did, and then some more errors but on a different screen. Two restarts after that it started to make progress again. It was a solid 15 mins on the "Updating SoC Image" screen and at two places there was no apparent progress for 7 or 8 mins. It finally finished, rebooted and everything works fine. The total update time was somewhere between 20-22min. The update says it should take 7mins. The update is also large - around 1.2GB.

    Not Kenwood's most polished code!

When I did my update on my DMX906S I had similar issues. I ended up having to get a new USB stick and reformat it on a different computer. I thought I’d bricked my HU at one point in time... took me about 4-5 tries to finally get it updated.

i had no problem updating mine. Threw the files on the usb, plugged it it, fired it up....clicked update.
it restarted a couple times, but it said it would do that.

Anyone with a pixel phone been able to get screen mirroring to work?
