Life is good my friend, in the grand scheme of things..:D
    I love my 2014 DC.

If only I could get my Tundra back...
It has been at the dealer since 11/16/2021 waiting for cat parts..:eek2:

But my saving grace is that Toyota is paying for my 2021 Tacoma rental..
As well I have front and rear Valhalla cat plates in the garage to install the day I get her back...

Yea, took us forever to find this one. 2018 CPO, extended warranty, 12k original miles. Not going anywhere.

Curious if you guys splurged for limited or platinum because you all intended to keep.

3EB94D1C-FF80-45CC-9318-6E4E4F4C95C2.jpg This is our current stable of cars. As I mentioned in other posts @ 70 I have now owned or leased 72 cars since I was 17. It’s time to slow down. My ‘21 MX-5 should be my last sports car, my wife’s ‘17 RDX is her grocery getter and a rather nice all around vehicle. My 9th Tundra, a ‘18 SR5 Dbl. Cab that replaced my ‘21 Platinum will be my last tow vehicle for our camper. I think for the first time in my long, car buying life, we have no vehicle payments. Kinda nice. Have 5 grandkids who will be in college in the next 2-5 years….so we may help them out with transportation…so I may still be buying vehicles in the future. Just not for us.

I splurged for a Platinum last year. Bought a brand new ‘21 with intentions of never selling it. Fast forward a year. I just sold it and purchased a 2018 SR5. The Platinum was a garage queen and in a year I had driven it less than 3k miles. Used primarily as a tow vehicle for my camper. So I reasoned that’s a lot of money sitting in the garage not being driven. Thus the 2018. It is serving my purpose admirably….so Imma gonna keep her…forever, or as long as we camp. We are 70 so there will come a time when I shouldn’t be on the road with a 3 ton truck pulling a 3 1/2 ton camper.

Had an option to buy a 2021 Platinum and 2021 Limited Nightshade- found a 2021 SR5, color and package I wanted. Didn't like the Platinum, being totally honest the electronic steering wheel adjustment turned me away from it along with a few other things. Didn't find value with added expense for a few accessories I didn't care to have. SR5 won it for me for a great price, no regrets.

Not for me. Honestly, I would prefer manual transfer case and just some basic gauges for the important stuff and a remote with power door locks and maybe power windows. The rest is pretty much luxury stuff that I could care less if it was ever available on any vehicle. Oh, I guess an am radio, as I dont listen to much other than sports radio.

Let's be honest, we all know that the minute you get that key you will have ordered like a truckload of mods to go with it.
Granted, Limited and/or platinum are nice, but not always to your taste or liking.
SR/SR5 on the other hand, I think is plenty enough, leaves room for your to "go after it" with the way you like it, plus more.
It does hurt a little less when you start taking apart a SR/SR5 than a Platinum..... though not sure if the total outcome numbers would outmatch the other.... but meh :anonymous:
My '21 CM Tundra is my first truck (other than work Taco that was not mine) and will be here until it falls apart....
If I need a gas saver, I go buy one, not trade this in for one. Long live the last V8!!

I actually liked the power tilt and telescopic steering wheel. I miss the push button start, Apple CarPlay and power folding mirrors. I appreciate the longer bed with the ‘18, the few dings and chips it came with has me not freaking out about using it as a “truck”. And the cement is my favorite color. Being 2WD I got 4mpg better than the Platinum on our last trip towing the camper…13.8 vs 9.8. We only go 40 miles each way but at todays gas prices every improvement helps.

Me. I'll keep my Tundra as long as I can buy gas. And we've got a Tundra SUV for wife (22 Sequoia TRD PRO). Tired of Volvos, don't want the same "reliability", but with a different badge. And it seems everything is like Volvo or even worse these days.

I don’t think I’ll have a “forever” vehicle, but I kept the last Camry for eleven vanilla years, and I could easily keep my ‘18 that long. If Toyota comes out with something that is a true improvement in the Tundra or Sequoia lines I will keep an open mind.
I still consider getting a Tesla For my city drive, but I would probably sell my old VW (for extra cash and the garage stall) to do that, and I would really dread giving it up.
Anyway, my Tundra is still a Lego project in progress, and I still get the fuzzies every time I jump in.

So forever? Probably not, but there would have to be something compelling that matches or exceeds the utility, reliability, and desirability of my ‘18. I don’t see that happening right away.

Love mine and I have a lot invested in it, but that new Ford Raptor R does look appealing.

Meh I have always said this about my vehicles as I get quite attached to them. But then something else comes along or I get an idea and I move on haha traded the Tundra two weeks ago, don't regret it at all. And maybe by the time I want a truck again they will have sorted all the 3rd gen issues...maybe. Love the look of them though, nicest Tundra yet.

Yes, I'm an old guy and wanted the comforts of the Platinum 1794. Looked at the '22's and didn't want the V6 or turbo issues, so grabbed a '21 in August. Plus, I think the 22's are very over priced.

As for keeping it long term, I'm not sure. I tend to rotate through cars fairly frequently, so even keeping it for 5 years would be a long time for me. With that said, I'm getting tired of car payments so I may just hang on to this one.

As for trim level, I only considered the Platinum or 1794. This purchase was largely about road tripping while pulling our travel trailer. I wanted as much comfort as possible, with items like ventilated seats, leather, etc. No regrets. We love it. It's so comfortable!

I bought a 19 limited new a little over 3 years ago.. Will hit 65k on the odometer next week. First 25,000 miles service was paid for by Toyota, bought the next 25k for $289 and switched to the oil change every 5k plan that will take me to 75k for $319. No other service performed other than a couple broken antennas in the car was and new tires this spring.. I don't know about a million miles, but I see 300k...

I read it. Number one reason I do everything that I can unless its warranty work. I hardly trust any tire shop, including the dealer, to do a tire rotation. They are all lazy and use impact guns. Before I decided to keep my truck I was doing the so called free oil changes and tire rotations. when I decided to keep it, I started doing it. The wheels must have been torqued to at least 110-120 lbs, OEM is 97lbs. Never have I seen a tire shop in Miami have a torque wrench to properly torque wheels on. So I sure ass hell don't trust a tire shop to do suspension work. Sucks in a way, but you did get a newer truck.

In afterthought when they screwed up the lug and the nuts, I should have got it fixed elsewhere and made them pay for it.

I've driven nothing but Toyota trucks for the last 40 years, keeping them for an average of 10 years per truck. They were all purchased used, usually ~3 years old with 20-30k miles, then sold with 150-200k.

I picked up a used 21 Tundra earlier this year, and will probably not keep it for 10 years. Times are changing, gas is not going back to $2 per gallon ever, and I will probably swap it out for an electric truck in the next 5 years or so. Hoping Toyota will be there for me, but its not likely.

Extremely badass but I believe a six digit truck…hell that’s almost covers the Tundra & the Highlander!

    Define old Volkswagen?
My firsr car I bought before my military hitch was a 58 VW sedan which I totally restored. Bigger motor than the old 40hp. Wished I kept that Classic VW.

I’m not saying it definitely will or when, but people have felt the exact same way in 2007 and at points in history prior.

True that... and I don't have a crystal ball. I'm probably in a small minority in this crowd, but I'm ready to move away from ICE for many reasons. It may be a bumpy road initially, but I'm excited about the options opening up.
