I'm up north in Upper Michigan so the market it very limited up here. It was the CarMax in Milwaukee that I brought it to for appraisal. When I spoke to my local Toyota dealer they offered $49k and made the statement that they could probably come up a bit, "but, not thousands" so that leads me to believe they won't be willing to entertain even matching CarMax at this point. IDK....it's a strange market right now. 2022 4Runners are hitting the lots now, too, so maybe it's best to hold out a bit and see what all the new Tundra stuff does to the demands for the tried and true V8. Still no reply from CarMax on the appraisal regarding Lunar Rock color other than they were elevating it within the company to see if it was a miss on their part. I suspect they'll come back with a no on that.

I put mine into Vroom and Carvana a couple of times just to see what they would offer. Vroom beat Carvana by a couple grand each time. Maybe give them a try.

The actual offer I got from a dealership on my 2017 was significantly higher than KBB and Carvana. Was actually more than I paid for it to begin with.

Looked at a TRD PRO Sequoia about month ago, Said right on the window, 10,000$ markup due to current market value. TO me that means if you want my truck it will be 10,000$ mark up if you want it for trade.

So just out of boredom decided to check vroom vs KBB. KBB list my wife's Subaru outback at 27,450, dealership offer 2000 over that. Vroom listed it for 31,257.

When I bought my Tundra Pro in April the dealership (Johnston's Toyota in NY) had a white Sequoia Pro sitting in the showroom gathering dust. Asking prices was MSRP MINUS $5k. I was getting so impatient waiting for my Tundra to come in I almost bought it.

Yeah because you and everyone else decided to try and sell all at the same time when you heard the market was crazy high.

Funny how that works when demand changes... haha

You never really know what the true demand is unless you try.

Better to have tried and failed then to never try at all... haha

I’m trading my 17 Sport Taco for a 21 Cement Limited DC and they’re giving me right in the mid range of the KKB. So I’m happy with the deal, 2 other dealerships were 3K - 3,500 LESS and one has a 5K markup so that woulda been $8,500 more… now I’m not the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree, but come on… and to top it off they were Offended I didn’t make the deal with them.

I’ll also be the first to say I wasn’t thrilled paying sticker price either, but it is what it is, every Tundra in this area is SOLD before it’s even built or while in transit. Very very difficult to find one on the lot.

One Lunar Rock Pro inbound at sticker and at the offended dealership 10K over sticker. I woulda bought a LR Pro but the deal breaker for me is that the Pro doesn’t come with Blind Spot Monitor, in the U.S. anyway.

Guess some folks got money to burn. Dealerships are less than an hours drive apart… save 10K for a nice drive… I would.

2 more weeks and my new Tundra should land!

8.75% here in Orange County NY on the full purchase price (minus trade difference). The dealers love it.

I’m fine with the TX 6.25%. Cheaper than the 8-9% in KS and annual property tax on car too.

I think you hold and wait til you get the price you want. Personally with the way the market is going (still a sellers market) you’re probably going to get more after the ‘22s trickle out (no flood gate here). There still isn’t a flood of cars and the used market still says this. And there will be diehard V8 fans for reliability. Sure Toyota does a lot of testing and are known for reliability. But they also began using this V6TT in 2016 or 2017 in Lexus. So maybe some of them cracked 100k by now, but there isn’t 10+ years worth of data.

the V6TT is definitely a proven power plant..... any 2022 problems are likely to be transmission and or electronics/software related which are all brand new

I agree with you on the photos. The best looking part of that truck is the new LED headlights. Plus, having the title to my truck just feels so damn good .

Exactly! So all the tree huggers will have their electric pkups, and the prices of V-8 Pros and Tundras in general will skyrocket.

KBB as most guides are a joke.

So is 49k - 52k is closer to the mark. I’d put it at 52-54k stock.

it’s a fairly narrow range for a 2021 - yes, supply is tight - but demand is finally getting back in line with supply…it’s no longer as lopsided as it was in April. In 3 months 2021s will be “last years models” - but as long as a dealer prices appropriately - they can turn a u it in under 10 days still. Buying at 53 and selling at 56-58 will allow that…if they try to hold out for 60+ - the unit will sit.

Carvana/Vroom/CarMax are good indicators of market conditions - but they are not perfect either.

Whatever a 2022 Pro prices out at - it will have little effect on a 2021. Apples and Oranges - just because they share a nameplate - no one is confusing the 2 nor will 2014-2021s spike in value because the cost of a 2022 zooms higher. If 2022s price at a stupid high price - it will lead people to look at alternate BRANDS and not YEARS.

I disagree, when the new models come out and the price is more in line with other trucks about 70k for top trims, people will be willing to take a used model that is priced better. If someone can save 10k, assuming the 20 dollars a month per 1k financed, that's 200 per month cheaper.
I could be wrong, it's happened before, but I know my 14 tacoma jumped in value the first year of the 16 tacoma release. Some people hate change so much they were willing to pay good money for the way things used to be.
Some people will pay more for an apple, because they don't like oranges

Carmax offered me $52k, I got $58.5 from the dealer, so my experience with them wasn't great.

I was thinking this might be 'somewhat' similar to the FJ situation in that way, but I'm one of those guys that doesn't do well with change, so I might not be seeing things with proper perspective.

I got mine, so I'm good for the next decade. At least until that cruel mistress Percieved Obsolescence raises her skirt.

Opposite in Iowa, dealer told me to take it, had late 2021’s coming in he would sell for at MSRP. That is who my deposit is with, so I expect no dealer markups. Sales manager didn’t expect to see 2022 Pro to exceed 60k, but what does he really know? Maybe we will find out tomorrow??

Every dealer I've talked to expects the TRD pro to be in the 65-70k range. And it's not arriving until next Spring.

Yea, I don't think dude in Iowa is familiar with the situation. With the tech that thing is sporting? I got more for my AT4 than I paid because of that. Anyone waiting on a 2022 TRD Pro under $65k is going to have to find a used one, 4 years from now, and even then it depends on mileage.

Where you from? Just visited a couple dealers nearby and they had no tundras on the lot. Was looking to see if any had a TRD, thought about trading mine in for one

Agreed, no tundras or even Tacomas on the lots here. My dealer was ravenous for my Tacoma. Said they need inventory bad
