Awesome racks! @KBVoodoo, are the 18" racks still available? The website is only showing 10". Looking to use a Diamondback SE with this to carry kayaks, so I need the extra height. From what I understand the Diamondback wouldn't be able to open, though?

The 18" Premium Rack is discontinued. It has been replaced by much better stuff. Look here: https://www.max-modular.com/shop-max-modular/

And yes they do work with Diamondback (but the cover would not be able to open).

Well that blows. I have the steel version. Wish I would have waited and got the aluminum version. Oh well. Damn rust.

Does the steel version support more weight than the aluminum?

Ok. Cool. If anyone is looking for a rack I would suggest the aluminum version to help with rust issues. I live a mile from the Pacific Ocean so I’m a rust magnet. I have to raptor line my rack.

@pvdubber did you put an RTT on yours, and are you happy you got the 10" rack (lowest center of gravity, MPG, any other considerations vs. lower visibility)? Which RTT if you don't mind sharing?

Really? I too figured steel would be stronger than aluminum in this application....

Steel is stronger than aluminum, but we used thicker material for the aluminum version to counter effect that.

I wish you guys had something that could be directly bolted on top of the diamondback.

Our tonneau brackets work with Diamondback covers. No drilling required.

Sorry I am late with the answer. I have not been around much lately, but to answer your question I did put a roof top tent on mine. I was the Tepui Kukenam. I am completely happy with both choices. With the racks low center of gravity and weight along with the RTT's and my driving habits I only lost .4 MPG.

That's the Premium rack, so it's steel.

<sigh> I thought I had this figured out.

Did the "Steel Max" replace the "Premium"?

What're the differences between the Steel Max and the Premium?

What he said. My biggest priority when searching racks was the ability to keep drag down. With the 10" rack it is not completely eliminated with my RTT of choice, but is significantly reduced, and I am happy with the overall result. I would do it again the same way if i had to. There are RTT's that would keep everything below the roof line but the costs are astronomical.

Just to confirm, I will be able to open a cover under the rack? I don’t have a bedslide so that will be a must.

Also if you could PM me a code please!
