    Thanks. My other concern was the added weight. Sometimes on a steep ramp it's a struggle to load my yak at about 100 pounds. I'll probably go ahead and add the OD though. Is it easy to remove for when I'm on the river?

    I take the drive out when I’m loading or unloading. Because it does have some weight to it.
    It takes all of 15 seconds to take off and put back in.

    Considering there's still 18" - 24" or more of ice on the lakes around here, it'll be a little bit. :D

    We won't be there for probably 2 or 3 months. :( 80 - 85 is our average summer temps. It might hit 60 this Sunday and everyone is excited. LOL

    Not a Kayak called a Solo Skiff i can fish trolling motor or up to 6 hp gas motor. When you get to 50+ you get tired of chasing fish with a paddle.

    Any reason mounting this rod holder base in this position with the shown self tapping screw followed by a bead of silicone around the base wouldn't work?

    Finally bought the Yakima longarm. Haven't taken it out yet with the yak, but this thing is awesome. Well made, 15 lbs and easy to put on. I'm so happy to finally have a truck to do this with instead of my old car with roof rack.

    I looks to be in the path of your paddle stroke, but i can't tell from the photos.

    It shouldn't interfere with my stroke, it's almost beside my knee.

    I'd install a flush mount base using well nuts. Both are available at Scotty.com

    @KMG

    Rod holder mounted. It could be problematic with a rod there while doing full paddle strokes. However, the only time a rod will be in there will be while trolling, so I'll just be using half strokes at most anyways. Nowhere else I can mount it with in easy reach anyways.

    Could also be problematic keeping you paddle out of your line.

    Trolling for love and internet fights. Rarely for fish. The only time I troll while fishing is when moving around a lake to a new spot.

    Considering the tip of the rod will be about 9ft off the side of the boat, I can't see that being an issue.
