Katzkin Leather Interior Offer

I have an install appointment for the Katzkins this week and was wondering if anyone did any prep to the covers before the install.

I haven’t heard it mentioned, but I am thinking it might help remove some wrinkling if I take the covers out of the boxes and lay them flat for a couple of days before they are installed.

I don't think it will hurt, but if I'm not mistaken, the installers actually have steamers that they use in order to finesse the leather and make them much easier to install. From what I've read, the wrinkles go away in a few days under complete sun.

 

i saw some people lay it out in the sun before installing. its mostly to heat up the material to stretch it on easier.

Had the Katskins installed today. I’m happy with how they turned out. The charcoal facings blend well with the rest of the factory interior and the black backs blend well with the seat plastics.

Matching center console lid would be great, but I think I’m going to stick with the factory lid material for durability.

Anyone have a write up on the rear seats for an 08 crew max. I recall someone saying something about the rear cup holders and how they come apart

Well this is my present, they look great ! Will share installed pics later once I tackle it but these are going to match my charcoal suede headliner nicely.

$free.99 ….I did em myself. Just gotta finish the wiring for the heaters. I’ve heard prices can range but I bet you’re looking at $400-600

2 good tips on the hardest part of the install imo

These headrest adjusters have 2 clips under the foam you press to slide them up. Most people will try and pry them which will break them. These are done last on removal of back cover:


They also go last on install of new cover:

The hardest part imo is the headrest. Keep the fabric on because it's glued to the foam. Wrap a bag over it and hit it with the shop vacuum to prune it. Pull the bag out once done.


That's how I did my last few sets, it may not be professional but I did it on my time and produced my own results hope it helps. Patience is key and most spots require "massaging" for nice edges.

 

LoL ! Went well and knocked it out. I used the passenger side to document the process I intend to write up for others. Only thing is when I was done I ended up with 69 pics so need to condense

 

Glad I looked at this! I’m literally about to tackle those headset clips. I would have never know they came unclipped like that. Thanks!
