I live and work in an international destination city for medical care. Whoooo boy that whole concept of southern politeness (on the roads) is absolutely not my lifelong experience. Someone in my area with southern plates is generally a red-hot sight to behold as they scorch down the streets! They're great to follow at a distance though, excellent law-enforcement bait!

It ain't the plate as much as the make. BMW and Dodge drivers are horrors on the road down here in S TX.

Where about in Michigan? I'm in southest MI and while I don't see many Tundra's in my area, I mostly see the big three trucks, I haven't had an issue because of what I drive. Seems like in MI you'll find isolated areas that have more people who drive Tundra's.

In the Carolina's it's either a clapped out Nissan or a white Lexus SUV, every time, with the occasional Prius going 45 in a 70 in the left lane.
As far as plates go, in my area it seems as if they've got an Ohio plate there's a 99% chance they're causing an accident.

You seem to have me on your mind a lot and I find it a bit distressing. I should have never sent you that pic of me in the speedo - Your check bounced, by the way.

Kilwins is a chocolate shop that started in Northern Michigan. They have been franchising them all over the country.

Up here in the Northwest, as far as 1/2 ton and smaller trucks go, it's Toyota country. Tacoma/4Runner/Tundra are high on the Totem, so to speak.

Although in reality, it seems the only truck people that harass others up here are the diesel owners - the insecure ones I mean.

Heard these kind of chirps in the early 2000s in my small town. Nothing outright hostile. Today? Nothing, but I'm in a more populated area now

I won't deny that there are plenty of people drive like an ass but down here there just don't appear to be the hand signals, gobbing off and general road rage tendencies that are rife in the UK.
Urban situations tend to be more uptight than the small lazy town attitudes but if it's bad driving we're talking about I'm not about to differentiate between states, although when it's harder to get the wrapper off a stick of butter than it is to get a FL driving license it's not hard to see why driving standards might be somewhat poor.

It’s probably not you. Only good part of Michigan is the UP. The rest is a communist dump full of mostly idiots.

For sure! Also I don’t mean to bash the good people in lower Michigan there’s plenty of them left. They are just sadly outnumbered by idiots.

I found this thread thoroughly amusing... here in NY mostly everyone is an overly aggressive asshole regardless of what you or they are driving...

I blame Indiana and Ohio, squarely. The UP is closer to Minnesota Wisconsin and Canada so it helps lots!

People in general are egocentric and focus on themselves rather than caring about others. It's unfortunate because it causes people to be angry and aggressive to others around them. I don't really think it's a regional thing either. It's just people only caring about what benefits themselves instead of being a good person.

I need another cup of coffee.

Yeah, thanks social media, or as it should be called "my life is better than yours, feel free to be self conscious!" Full disclosure, I've never had any social media aside from this forum. Not sure if that counts.

On MA roads you can see pretty much everything sold in US in past 30 years. Plenty of Tundras, too. Up north, in rural Maine Tundras proportion goes up considerably. In wilderness there's Tundras and old Big Three trucks, the ones that don't suffer modern reliability issues, I guess.

People are also very nice and supportive. I was high centered on a blob of ice without a winch in the middle of nowhere, had to press a SOS button on my Garmin. A local game warden, a very nice guy, spent a good part of his Saturday driving there to escape me. I didn't get a bill for recovery, no nothing. He joyfully said at least I'm not dead, like others do from time to time, so it was not a big deal to him to pull me out. And yes, he was in a F250 ;) Another time about a dozen people stopped by when they saw me winching out through the mud and stumps. A guy on a new GM truck suggested to use his vehicle as an anchor for the last stretch, because my winch rope was too short to reach trees over the road.

Honestly I would move to northern Maine if not kids.

Don't do it. Most things are fake and ingenuine. I've been slowly disconnecting from all of it as well.

At my age, I doubt I'll start now. Never had a Myspace, never saw a need for Facebook etc. All look like a time suck and have caused most of the people I know problems. People post something and everyone thinks it's about them.

Our business has instagram (which I hardly ever use) and I signed up for Facebook a week ago so I can use Marketplace but I’m using an alias. If I want to talk to somebody I went to kindergarten with, I’ll pick up the fucking phone.

The irony though is I’ve been seeing more and more people of the baby boomer generation just flooding over facebook while gen z rarely actually uses it.
