I am glad everyone (except the deer) made it out okay.

If your insurance company is anything like mine and if you are still making payment on your truck, they won't let you get an after-market bumper. I tried.

Sorry man, glad no one was hurt. I hit a deer last year with my sedan, causing 8k in damage. My car was laid up for almost 30 days in the shop, then back in the shop for redoing the paint, etc. It was a complete pain. I hit a large buck and the guy that lived in the house nearby took the deer. Said he hasn't gotten a buck as nice in the last 10 years of hunting.

I work in the insurance industry. Generally, most adjusters don't care if you "upgrade". They will pay you for what you had, and you are free to pay the difference. If you are professional and nice, they will be too. If you are rude and behave like an ass, they will make it difficult for you. At least that's the way I was when I did the job years ago.

How it was explained to me was that if Toyota still holds the lien, you have to change with what was there. If your truck is already paid for, it doesn't matter how you choose to repair your vehicle. I have Allstate.

Hey Chuck, so sorry for your accident. Kinda made my stomach turn looking at a damaged truck like that. Glad you're OK . What makes it even worse is that Santa was out 3 days to early. Maybe see about filing a claim with the North Pole insurance Co. All seriousness, hope your truck is not down to long and you get it back looking even better. Best of luck to you........

There's no such rule, law or regulation that requires this as far as I'm aware.
You are required to show your lienholder that repairs were properly completed, that's all.

Thanks, already talked to insurance company. They were pretty nice about it. told me to just take it to get fixed and if I use one of there preferred companies then I don't need to get estimate. I'm going to check them out Monday. Sounds to good and easy. We'll see.

Hey Jim It's going. Truck goes in the shop tomorrow. They will have it about 4 days. The damage was $3,942.
Just having things put back how I had them. Will figure out what or if I want a change after. Really don't have time now to try to go a different route. If I took it to one of the dealers they approve of and have it fixed the way it was then I didn't have to wait for adjuster or approval. I was impressed with my insurance company. No hassles at all. I have just had to wait for parts to get in and now it's a go for Monday.

Got my truck back this morning. They ended up having it 11 days instead of the 4 that was initially said. It was raining when I picked it up but looked good at a glance. Got it home and when it quit raining I went out to look over everything. All looked great till I started to wipe things down. When it wiped off the bumper end cap it looked "rough" around the fog light. Looking closer it was pitted and in some places starting to rust. I was pissed. Called company that did work and they denied it was like that. Going back in morning to let them see. Don't really want them to re fix it, don't trust them now. What should my next step be? Haven't had much experience dealing with insurance claims. I don't feel I'm being picky it's just, it's a new truck and they charged insurance $268 for a new one.

Unacceptable Chuck! Notify your INS company. Were the end caps part of the repair?

They fixed the whole front end. $4,000 damage. They can not make me believe this is a new part. Can't believe this shit!

Rusting doesn't happen over night. Obviously something was wrong with the part. They need to replace for free.

Sorry about that BS Chuck. Seems to me they tried to salvage the end caps to line there pockets. Hope you get it straight. Just so hard to find a responsible, trustworthy shop you can count on. They are very few out there.
