Yes, you can in certain states.. in Kali my Celica is liability only.. if I want full coverage I can take it through a CHP certification which means it has to be signed off by a shop, or body shop... I got a tail and headlamp inspection in Kali and got it signed off before I could re-register

 

In New Mexico you just can't do full coverage. But I have liability, theft, uninsured motorist, the basics.

 

I think it varies state by state. I have had two vehicles get totaled due to hail and both still carried clean titles. I owned both vehicles out right but I thought I read somewhere that if the bank has the title, they will deem it salvage once the note has been paid.
