Back in the early sixties in the dead of winter had a guy hook up jumpers the wrong way and thought I was stupid for me trying to stop him and the battery blew up in our faces!! We were in the parking lot of a hospital so a quick trip into the ER and many doctors flushing our eyes out, the guy left with bandaged eyes I left with eye lids glued shut with ointment and I was much quicker so I had turned and took some plastic in the side! Thank goodness I had a heavy coat on! Sorry to hear you had troubles but consider yourself lucky?!:) I don’t even carry cables anymore!! that way I can’t mess up their vehicle or mine. Really hope you get it figured out. What a mess.

Sounds like there may be more fuses to be replaced.

I was also thinking to check the fuseable link.

Crossing DC polarity is never good. Hopefully there is a fuse or fuses blown. Keep us posted.

Maybe the ac fan motor got fried or died. When mine failed the ac didn't come on at all. To trouble shoot I disconnected the harness at fan, checked DC volts with a meter. The voltage was variable in increasing increments as the fan switch was increased. If no volts then power issue.

It would be a first in my days but coulda blowed the clutch coil or a pressure switch. Check power and ground with the a-c kicked in maybe?

Check to see if the compressor clutch actually engages using a jumper wire.

    Compressor clutch relay good?

    High/Low pressure switches good?

    Evaporator temp switch?

So my dumb ass did this today and I'm getting a fusible link to replace mine since I have the same symptoms you did. I haven't tested ac yet though. Did you end up figuring out what was wrong with yours?
