To be fair, to put 3.0 race series shocks on a Tundra, it will cost the same...if not more.

I found the Raptor shocks for 6800.00.

Part of the "pay to play" tax I guess.

Yeah, if you keep the miles low anything will last. Put 200k on your 16 and see where it's at in 25+++ years. I bet you, you won't find a 2025 tundra or tacoma or anything like you can still find a 1950's Corvette or Camaro or Mustang. Your STI won't be around for 75+ years, unless like I said you store it and dont drive. And if by some miracle it does, try finding parts for it. Try finding a module in 75 years.

Quite good doesn't cut it when you're building 2 EVs for one of the most reputable and reliable vehicle manufs. The Hummer will be a fail just like the H2 and H3 were. It's a look at me, I have nothing better to spend my money on vehicle, just like the cyber truck.

Yeah but you said, build it better and still have tons of cash left over. Deep pockets can build anything better, even a KIA.

there are lots of WRX STIs out on Reddit with way over 200k miles. Since you raised the bar to 75 years, that is a long time for any car to be around but yeah I would put 1987-2019 Japan domestically produced imports on par with anything quality wise. The production is on another level for this period of time. Hummers are selling now with huge EV discounts but yeah they are show pieces and heavy.

Aftermarket modules like COBB and others run the STI just fine.

It's always been a hope of mine to totally flog an STI on a racetrack for a week sometime. NFG fun.

75 years is a long time, but still cars of that era are around and can be around because lack of computers. No computer controlled import or domestic will be around for that long. Antiques or collectables will be vehicles that were bought and stored for decades and never used. It won't be like it was, were you could buy a corvette, drive it and 50++ years later its still around. You would be hard pressed to find a current year vehicle on the streets in 75 years like you do today. Hummer only sells because of the huge discounts, other wises its just paper weight.

Not familiar with COBB but will they be around making every module that goes in your 16 , say 50 years from now?

1950 International L110, original motor, well 1 rebuild.

I doubt if we'll ever see any modern cars last 75 years.

While I never had a real problem with the Fords I've owned I've never kept one for an extended period of time.
I tend to trade in my trucks early in their lifetime.
But...I've always been more impressed by the Tundras performance over the Ford.

The tundras performance was something to be reckoned with when it came out. But, Toyota keeps it's engine for a long, long, long time. Obviously you don't fix it if it isn't broke, but apparently it was time for the 5.7 to be laid to rest. Now if the 3rd gen 3.4TT goes as long as the 5.7 did, then it's going to fall behind in performance. The new coyote 5.0 is a beast and let's not even talk about adding a Whipple to it, 700+ HP. If Chevy gets their shit together with the 6.2, then that's another beast of an engine.

    If it works it works.
Toyota is known for its engine longevity.
And I haven't found a reason to doubt their claims over the years.

Honestly, the single best argument against the Raptor is the 5.0 Coyote. There is absolutely zero reason that the Raptor shouldn't have the SC'ed 5.0 in it at it's price point. Especially since you can get a base model regular cab short bed with the SC on it for a bit over $50K. Put $15K into the suspension and you'll eat raptors for lunch and still be $10K off their MSRP

This morning I went to my local credit union. Saw three Raptors on the way. Two TRX's. A few blocks away a guy had new black Vette parked on his driveway and a new white GT-R. Not sure what he does for work, but has a decent choice of rides.
    Vette..meh... GT-R, fu*k yeah!

Actually wife's, she bought an old Ford non-runner for yard art but wanted something to drive. It's loud, slow but a lot of fun to drive. To be totally cliche we just drive to church on Sundays and to work once in awhile, about a 6 mile drive. We bought it about an hour away on the far end of the city, we live on an acreage. Had to drive about 1/2 hour on the highway where traffic flows at about 120 km/h (75mph) and it would do 60mph but is happier at 50-55mph. Original SD-220 motor has had one rebuild, 81,890 miles, oil bath air cleaner, 6V positive ground electrical, lights project about 3' with a dim yellow glow, don't know how anyone drove at night. I keep telling her we're going to drive it to Oregon to visit family, nine hour drive in the car, probably take us twice as long. It does have air conditioning! There's a long, about a foot, heavy duty lever under the dash, you pull, and a little flap opens in front of the windshield.

Parked in front of our store...

Raptor R has nothing on the SD-220 with it's 90HP and 3 speed on the tree.

And maybe Toyota could steal from a 75 yo design, the Silver Diamond SD-220 uses "four steel backed, replaceable shell, precision type main bearings".

Greed maybe. You can get a Raptor R with a SCed V8 but not the regular Raptor. Just like other manufs won't let you get a higher HP engine or Hybrid on a lower trim. So to get a higher HP engine they make you buy a higher end trim $$$$. Ford released a VelociRaptor 1000. 3.8 Whipple Coyote engine 1043HP. Saw it yesterday but don't know how long it's been out.

That wasn't Ford it was Hennesay. Only certain dealers had them mostly in Oklahoma iirc. My wife's old boss had one while I had my gen 2. It was a little intimidating. I like old trucks last car show m I went to some old guys had some studabakers which I thought was cool.

They do, but turbos and longevity hardly ever go together. Time will tell but I don't see all these turbo engines Toyota and other manufs are releasing going the long haul. The Ecoboosts aren't going the long haul and they have been out for 14 years now. NA is where longevity and reliability are at. Toyota should have stuck to that.

Yes it is a Hennessy truck and probably 6 figures. But just the fact that a Ford truck with 1043 HP with warranty is awesome. And the fact that Whipple makes a 3.8 is also a leap forward in blowers for the aftermarket world.

A semi engine is not the same animal as a light duty engine. It's like comparing steel to aluminum foil.

If I were buying a new 1/2 ton at this point reliability would not be on my list of considerations. It would just come down to capability and value.

Superchargers also need overhauls just like turbos. With the miles you drive it will last you a lifetime, lol.
