How do you like the soft topper?

 

Love it! I've had it for years now just haven't been able to run it.

 

may I ask which Xtrusion rack that is? I'm leaning more and more toward the softopper/rack set up to hold an RTT, and use the truck bed as secondary bed/sleeping for the kiddos when we go. Seems it will be significantly less than a hard cap over the bed. Also like the flexibility of the overland rack on top of the softy. Much more adaptability than the set hard caps, in my opinion. 4-5k on a camper top is a bit beyond reach for me right now.

 

It's the XTR1 Softopper rack. I love the softopper so I'm excited to run it again with a RTT this time.

Well, I made a few subtle changes again. I really need to quit so I can enjoy the rig!

 

Introducing the new to me AT Overland Atlas. Found a heck of a deal on it and it was fairly close so I had to jump on it! "Had to" LOL



I've got alot of work to do. Thinking about wrapping it since the aluminum doesn't really go with my color scheme. Also have some brackets ordered from AT to mount my 270 driver side and going to mount my shower room passenger side.

Also have been brain storming an interior layout. Removed the Decked drawers and wanting to do a full bed buildout.



BTW the Xtrusion bed rack, Mt Hood rtt and Softopper are up for sale now! HMU if you're interested in any of it and around East Texas.

 

Looking awesome! I fully support your idea of quitting and wheeling full time. Not like financially or anything, I just think it's a good idea

 

I think it's a great idea! Just gotta figure out how to fund it! LOL

 

A few more shots

 

Well I've slowly been tinkering away at the build as work permits. Here's a few updates on the progress.

 

Another project I'm working on is solar mounting.

 

Got the solar bracket painted and mounted up yesterday. Think it turned out pretty clean and low profile, which I was going for.

 

This post got out of order but I also got the new awning brackets mounted, shower room hung and the L track mounted. I wasn't super excited about drilling 20 1/4" holes in the side of the topper but it's done now! LOL

 

About half way through the drawer build with the square tubing I decided I didn't like it. So instead I started all over using 1/2" baltic birch plywood. Here is my front cross box which will hold a 20 gallon water tank underneath the storage area, which will have a hinged lid. The tank is removable by an access door on the end, which will require removal of the whole box from the truck but hopefully I won't be removing it much once it's installed. I haven't yet, but am considering cutting out areas from underneath the water tank for weight savings and to allow water to run out as a sign in the event of the tank leaking.

 

Driver side box is going to consist of a 44" pull out drawer. This box is also going to be short to allow me to mount a fridge and slide on top of it.



Passenger side will end up being the height of the front cross box and will have a 44" pull out drawer on bottom and a hinged top box to allow me to access those items with the tailgate closed.


Im currently waiting on my slides so I can mount them and get the tops of my boxes permanently secured and start building my passenger side box upwards.

 

Spent the weekend in the shop and made some headway on the bed buildout. Everything is being coated with spar urethane to seal the wood and once all is complete I'll spray raptor liner on the outside surfaces for a more durable finish.

Overall I'm pretty happy with it so far. Ready to get out and use it though!

 

Well, I got back earlier today from @STravis shop where I had my new front bumper installed and man is it killer!!! Travis installed the bumper yesterday and I drove back 12hrs today so I'm tired but I had to do a quick edit and throw a picture up in here. I am super pleased with how it turned out. I am just waiting on my other 2 LP9s to show up and get them installed.

So for now, here's a preview.

Your truck looks so good man! Absolutely killer build you have going. Looks like you guys went up into the Capitans before you hit camp out by baca? I love the east side of the Capitans.

 

Thank you! Your products are helping the look tremendously! Yea, we went up the Gap road then cut up to the top of the mountain. Killer views up there and some nice campsites! If we weren't in a hurry to get back, I definitely would have stayed up there for the night.

 

Yeah that's one of my favorite places to camp around here. There is usually almost nobody else up there. We'll have to camp up there next time you're out this way.

 

For sure! Temps were nice up there too! We were miserable until the storms hit at Baca due to the heat! LOL

 

Well I managed to get out today and work on the interior. Think I have everything done on the cabinets to hopefully bed line them this week.


The "center" floor section will bolt all the boxes together for stability. I will also have some vinyl flooring I am going to put on the floor section to dress it up.

I also managed to clean up some wiring and install a Blue Sea temp gauge, shown and a tank level gauge, not shown.

 

Looking sweet! Now that you have more of @STravis 's gear, does that mean you're going to bump up to 39's as well?

 

I don't know if I'll go that far! While his truck looks bad ass on 39s I'm pretty happy with my 37s. For now that is............ LMAO
