I had to visit the apple store today with my wife. Her phone has some odd issues that couldn't be replicated so they're doing a restore to see what happens. However, the poor apple guy handling the customer beside us had a real handful.

This dude has a iPad with a small crack in the edge of the glass. He is swearing that there was no impact, no drop, no cause, it just appeared and he wants a replacement. Hes asking the apple guy what happened to the ipad and coming up with arguements. The apple guy was super polite about it and pointed out a mark from impact less than a centimeter from the scratch and said that shows potential for damage. The customer went nuts saying "you mean something hit it here and caused a crack way over there? Doesn't make sense"

I couldn't do this job. I had a hard enough time sitting there laughing at the guy without jumping in. I would have told the fucker kick rocks and you should have got a case, come back when you have a problem that you didn't cause.

What jobs could you not do?

Several years ago a customer sent in three Hewlett Packard 3456A digital multimeters for calibration. Quite decent by the way. Every thing we calibrate has a +/- tolerance for the most part. DMM's for sure. He got his meters back and called us and complained that all three didn't read EXACTLY the same with 1 Volt DC applied. I don't recall what the spec was for DCV, but for shits and grins, let's say it was +/- 150 uVDC. That means all three DMM's should indicate within +/- 150 uVDC. Impossible for all three to read EXACTLY the same. We went over and over with this dipshit trying to explain that there was no way to adjust all three to read EXACTLY the same, plus you have to account for the uncertainties of the measurement process....:annoyed:

I couldn’t be a realtor. People want a 5000 square foot house in the hills I’m perfect condition for $1.89, and they want all-hours access to talk about it. Then again, as I sit here typing this, I’m in a shoe store where the poor gal is trying to fit two geriatric women into orthopedic shoes, with insoles. Touching people’s feet all day: job #2 that I couldn’t do.

I commit to all of you that I will spend some additional time reflecting on this subject, and l’ll keep you all posted on my thoughts...

    edit 10 pm:

#3: low-end male prostitute, aka “Fred Garvin”. I think I could do a high-end gig (for women only)...

#4: flight attendant. Too many assholes in the skies

#5: janitor at a strip club. I could be a janitor most anywhere else, but something about knowing a room had been sexed in creeps me out.

#6: DMV worker. Completely thankless, seems like it’d be soul-sucking

That’s all I can come up with for now. If the group is interested in more of my ranting, I’ll get high and do another edit. I’m sure that hilarity will abound/abide...

I have a buddy that I ride sport bikes and golf with that is a proctologist. Guy makes a shit ton of money, but I get to hear his stories. I’ve always thought butts are nasty, but could never do his job. No way in hell. It doesn’t pay near enough.

I couldn't go back to sales/retail. People are self entitled anymore. And even the health care field is becoming a more retail feel to it. So many issues that I have dealt with that get special consideration to make the patient happy. People suck

I couldn’t be an auditor for my career. I did it for one year for the experience and looks good on resume. Most of my clients that I audit is Indian tribes, casinos and schools. They hate your gut every time you show up. :(

I couldn’t do retail sales or any kind of customer service. I see those poor folks constantly getting verbally abused.
I couldn’t be a school bus driver. Nowadays, those little shits have no respect for anyone. I know a couple of retirees that tried it to pick up some extra cash and keep busy. Neither one made it two months before they couldn’t take the nonsense anymore.
I also couldn’t work as a nurse or aide in a senior care center. I see what they go through where my dad lives. Dealing with people who no longer have the facilities to know what they’re doing and also dealing with folks that are just mean. Those people are saints.
