FYI- This is a pic of almost 3 ounces recovered in the first ~7,000km on the Tundra. I was not expecting this much.

During the process of venting crankcase pressure back through your intake track, large amounts of oil, in the form of vapors, intake tube, intake manifold runners and even dilute your gas, lowering its octane level. This happens on all engines and is even worse with forced inducted vehicles (supercharged and turbocharged) as crankcase pressures are increased. To combat this, we have developed an oil separator of our own design. Milled from solid billet aluminum this is a rock-solid piece. It has a knurled tank base for easy removal to drain the spent oil and an O-ring seal to prevent any leaks.

Filtering consists of a fine mesh stainless steel screen that traps fine oil vapors and releases them once heavy enough to fall. They then pass through a 1/2" thick 1/16th" aluminum honeycomb filter where they grow every larger and then fall into the bottom. By the time the oil gets through the filter it's too heavy to be passed on into the intake. The tank holds 3 oz of fluid, while that may not sound like a lot, you shouldn’t see that much oil in your PCV system. Drain it every 2000-3000 miles and you will never come close to filling it.

    Copied from the website.

I cannot tell if I am down on oil as I have changed in twice in the first 7000km and just checked this last night.

Well, you are either pulling oil from your crankcase.....or creating new oil.

    it's one or the other.

Yeah its coming from the crank case but it would not be reflected as the oil was recently changed. Will need to empty next oil change.

I'd be really curious what an oil analysis on this would be if you sent it to Blackstone.

It is installed inline between pcv valve and the intake manifold. Without it that crap becomes part of the combustion fuel/air/crap mix.

Do you really need to rip the foam out?

I didn't rip the foam out to install mine. But it helps for visibility. The foam is removable if you're careful. You basically bisect the PCV return tube and reroute one side to the canister and the other side to the PCV valve.

Interesting how European lux autos come with an oil separator standard yet most other autos do not. While it sounds horrible to burn that through intake the engineers factored it in.

I'd like to hear their explanation of why it is "OK" not to include a device like this standard, anyone know?

Most folks don't service their cars. some not at all. some wait for a light to come on. so, it would fill up & bypass.

and removing oil with out refilling your crankcase will lead to oil starvation.

and, isn't this more apropos to direct injection motors?

our non-direct injections motors don't really give hoot.

Love my catch can. Here’s mine after 3k miles…about half full. I do a lot of short drives, so I’m thinking moisture is giving me the coffee-n-cream color

i am no expert, but a quick google pulled up lots of posts. When it gets cold, they trap lots of water, which freezes overnight, and puts pressure back into the crank case when its blocked. People were suggesting to empty every few days in winter. again, I am not an expert, but that sounds like a PITA
