Just an update . I had the JL audio 2 10 inch sub woofer stealth box installed with a 600 watt JL audio amp. This sub box does pound. I am really impressed. It definitely elevated the stock door speakers and I’m satisfied for now. I will eventually change out the door speakers and head unit which is the next project after I install the power lock for the tailgate.

Number one thing is the price especially for the SPL achieved. Also it can be lacking in the attack. I think this really boils down to user error for the most part being that the wrong subs are being used for the cubic feet this box offers. Having a custom box built for a specific sub seems to be the best scenario but crutchfeild makes it easy just to click and buy.

    Agree on the price comment.

Would you agree that best results are achieved with JL subs that are spec'ed for the stealthbox?

I would agree that’s the best approach. I would love to run Smartt on it to see how it compares to a quality custom box loaded with comparable subs.

When I'm in Florida, I'll hit you up, and we'll test it. :D

...and I'm assuming you have a quality custom box. ;)

...and that is assuming I go the JL route myself. ;)

The bass on the jbl system is useless. I had a stereo shop remove the jbl sub behind the seat and add a single 10” JL audio sub with its own amp. The amp that comes with the truck stays. The new amp taps into the existing amp for the signal to the new sub. Everything else stays the same. Very pleased with the setup and only cost me around $500 installed. That single 10” sub with the new amp hits pretty hard. Not gonna win any competitions of course but this isn’t a bad option.

    working on upgrading the audio..
Might be a little late to this thread, but I posted this over on another "tundra" forum...

"So.... given I'm in the same boat (2021 Platinum w/ JBL system) and a simple head unit upgrade on my '09 Tundra sounds 1000+ MILES better ... what are the options for making the sub actually do it's job on this model?
Being a musicians that happens to play bass guitar, I want MORE bottom end to my music! Especially songs I need to learn!
I get more bass thru the center console that from the installed sub behind the seat. Unless I crank up the volume (and even then) I can barely hear it and one would never know that a sub even existed. My '09 - with 11 yr old stock speakers - puts out way more bass thru the rear door speakers (NO SUB)!!

Any suggestions? But.. replacing/upgrading it is probably not an option at this point!
Is there some adjustment on the sub itself, cuz the built-in 3-band EQ is next to worthless.."

My subsequent research - incl. contacting JBL and returning to the dealer and comparing directly with another vehicle w/ same "JBL Premium Audio" installed.
JBL Premium Audio has ZERO bass.. so... 3rd party upgrade!!!!

There's the following - none of which replace the headunit:
    OEM Audio's package: https://oemaudioplus.com/toyota/jup14cmt/
Tech 12 volts (with simple sub replacement up to complete system REDO): https://www.shop.tech12volts.com/product.sc?productId=585&categoryId=124
and T-a-c-o-t-u-n-e-s: https://*********.com/toyota-tundra...max-system-1b-plug-play-audio-system-upgrade/ (sitename is ** out by forum..remove dashes)
ALL with varying price points - none of which factor in a PRO installation.. all DIY!

Then there's a boatload of Crutchfield head unit replacement options, which ALL require ADS-MRR adaptor (for steering controls) but also recommend replacing the stock low-impedance speakers at same time!
    https://www.crutchfield.com/g_46255...g_Wheel_Control_Compatible|FFAdapter_Required

    Choices, choices... :(

Agreed. I installed a Phoenix PX6 Tesla style HU, Pioneer low-profile 10" sub, mono-amp, and Polk component speakers in the doors for less than $2k. Of course I didn't have to pay for labor since I did the installation myself, but $2k for what he's getting is highway robbery.

Hi everyone I have a question and it might be a noob one but here it goes. I have a 2020 limited crew cab with jbl premium. I’ve upgraded the sub to the JL Audio stealth box with 2-10 inch woofers behind slither seat with a one channel 1,000 watt jl amp. I would like to upgrade door speakers and was wondering if I can just get a wiring adapter and just plug them into the factory jbl amp that came with the truck. I’ve been reading a lot on the forums but I don’t know anything about wiringstereos or anything with car audio. Anyinformation would help. Thanks inadvance

I think total with a 1,000 watt amp and lc2i processor it was around 1,800. I like it definitely a lot of bass. But just want to upgrade these crappy stock jbl door speakers to compliment the subs

Was very easy to install great customer service and the system rocks sub shakes my mirrors, plan on upgrading door and dash speakers eventually, but super happy with it now.
