I've been cheating on my Pro and flirting with the Ford Raptor lately

I’d rock an old raptor with the 6.2. The 3.5l POS can stay far away with its timing chain driven water pump that’ll kill your engine before you know it’s leaking into the oil

    To the OP,
I’ve had several bouts of Raptor fever since 2014.
Came super close to pulling the trigger back in November 2019.
2019 Supercrew, Velocity Blue, beadlocks, graphics package, heated rear seats and no moon roof.
801a. It was a bizarrely optioned mid range truck. MSRP was $71k
    Discounted down to $69k

They were doing Ford credit company finance at 2.9% 84 months with a 96 month option @ 6%

Yes, that is an 8 YEAR car loan.
Speaks volumes about the pool of buyers has dried up.

“Villain Ford” ( in Orange SoCal) only offered $34k for my 2017 Platinum “Pro” Tunny with 11,400 miles.
Top trade in was $38k at the time.

I have 806 Credit score, I drove home to think on it, I’ve been lusting after one for a long time and figured this is about the best I can get.

To which I saw my neighbor covering his 2017 with a tarp because of the leaking moon roof

    Stopped me dead right there.

I’m on the FRF website, and Gen2’s are having a lot of issues. 2018’s are going for mid 50k. 2020’s can be had for 9-15% off MSRP.

2019’s are now almost 14 months old. Do the quick valuation on KBB/NADA and do an 802a with 500 miles.
You’ll be surprised at what they value at.

The 0% is tempting but they pull any rebates and discounts.
If you truly want a Raptor I would wait until the manufacturer’s start pumping out discounts.

Or become friends with a repo guy. There’s a lot of idiots who stretched themselves too far to buy these things.

Cash is king for discounts. 2019 Pros have a few grand off right. It's just a matter of time more cash incentives are rolled out. I'm sitting on my piggy bank waiting patiently.

Financing and lease you dont get those cash discounts typically. I like to buy so I dont have to bother with payments and knowing I also got a good deal. if I cant afford, I don't buy.

That's not true anymore. Dealers make money off the finance deals and will send a few bucks off the purchase price and stick you on the finance.

They are offering 8k rebates off 2019s. They arent offering anything close to this for financing...atleast in Western Canada.

    $4K rebates off 2020s.

No financing plan will compare. You get dinged on interest, depreciation and less rebates.

The manufacturer cash rebates plus dealer discount on top for cash purchases, your double dipping in discounts. ...no financing term or discount can beat that.

Love the raptor, love not having a truck payment even more. 84 months is a LONG time. That’s 7 years. They say months so you don’t think in years....

I also have eyes on the raptor. But for what they are asking ... it's def out of my income bracket. I cant resist hp and tq. That's why the pro has never caught my eye. Premium price I'm okay with but the same engine...ehhh.

Used vehicle prices are down about 15% right now due to virus. Local guy that buys lots of vehicles compared it to 911 or worse.

You can get the discounts just don't finance through Toyota. I did the math on mine and a 1.79% rate at CU was the same as 0% and losing $1500 Toyota rebate. I would have gone with CU because I always pay off early but they messed up application costing me 2 days to get approved. If you pay off early you might be better off with paying interest. As far as Ford's leaking sunroofs go it it is normally just the drain line. I met brother at hunting ranch last year and he had carpet pulled up and wanted my space heater. It was a clogged drain line. It runs down passenger side pillar.

Does the Raptor come equipped with a FoMoCo ventilator signed by The Donald? By the time you pay it off you’ll need one.

I did the Mojave road in February with 2 tundras(one of them my pro. 2 4 Runners 2 raptors first gen. 1 Chevy, 1 Tacoma and 1 jeep. Of the 2 tundras there was 0 problems. Well I lost my RTT but that was my fault my roof and hood still have the scars. No problem with the limited taco and 4 runners and Jeep. The Chevy was taped together so I won’t go into it. The raptors. Now 1 lost his headlights, light bar, his hood completely detached and we had to strap it on. And he lost his bed rack ( his fault). The other lost his light bar and sucked up water into his engine during the water crossing which luckily he found out a week later. Both of them had them a year and both have had their suspension redone. Us Toyota guys talked shit to them the entire time. But that’s friends being being us. Both of the raptors were good at high speed in the desert and we had a good time. But they were the only ones that needed repairs at the end.

That's on solid front axle vehicles, and all brands are susceptible to it. It's an inherent characteristic. The raptor doesn't have the death wobble.

If your going to supercharge and long travel a Tundra, what is the reason for starting with TRD PRO over a SR5 persay? just the interior luxuries? is there any off road performance gain?

There are no early pay off penalties when you get a 0% loan for 84 months. It also makes sense if you do keep your trucks for that long to keep your money in the bank and gain interest on it instead of paying your car off early. You could put the difference of your payment that you would have made at a 60 or 72 months at an average interest rate and come out ahead because instead of paying interest you were making interest how ever small it may be. You would also have that money to dump into your next vehicle if you decided to trade early. There are so many options available to you when you get 0especially for that long.

I agree. The only negatives are if you aren't disciplined with your money and the vehicle gets totaled. If you don't have GAP insurance you have to come up with the money to pay off the loan. It will obviously be a much better deal if they start including all of the rebates with the 0%. I've also seen some people against the deferred payments. If you are at 0% there is no interest accrued during that time either.

Longer list than the wife needs to know about....
My neighbor has a raptor, beautiful truck. He has had significantly more warranty work on it vs my Tundra but nothing mission critical. Tailgate didn't have the soft open spring installed at the factory, drivers seat heater went out after a year, etc, etc.
Depending on your use and financial situation they are a brilliant truck.
Nobody can say if its a better truck for you than you, it doesn't fit my lifestyle or budget but I do appreciate what the truck is.
If money wasn't an issue I still wouldn't pick it but for those that have them seem to love them.
