Rough country n3 struts level the truck , eliminate the spacer stuff and despite what used to be known about rough country they rode awesome the whole time I had them. Pretty inexpensive too. Just saying.

I think the picture I posted was a 3 inch spacer iirc

Yea the dealer is paying for mine. I’m assuming at the moment that it’s a spacer level. Probably something like the rough country 1.75”. I’ll have to ask the shop tomorrow. But, I mean if the thing breaks there’s only one option. Rebuild and keep rolling ‍♂️

A dealer is paying for it?
    Guaranteed cheap shit.

Spend your own money, make your own choices, do it ONCE and do it RIGHT..
If a spacer lift breaks a shock, it's gonna fuck up more than just the shock.
As well as downtime to get it fixed..

Meh, it’ll be fine. Unless these fine pieces of machinery aren’t meant to be used like a truck. Oh, and horns down by the way

So you're calling spacer lifts 'FINE PIECES OF MACHINERY'?
You should do a search about them this forum.

A TUNDRA is only as strong as its weakest link.
That weakest link in your truck will be an aftermarket spacer lift.
Are you putting a block on the rear axle too?
    That's embarrassing...

Keep it on the pavement and you'll be OK.

    Good luck Bro.....................

    Again, welcome to the froum..

A Tundra is what I’m calling a fine piece of machinery. But if a small spacer level causes as much damage as what you’re implying it’s the opposite. I’m not worried in the slightest, if it breaks, all you have to do is fix it. Simple stuff. But if that’s all it takes to break one of these things, I damn sure don’t need one

Worth checking your tires to see if they’re balanced, my first set of OEM tires needed periodic attention to keep them balanced. I’ve had bad luck with Goodyear tires not holding balance well, currently on a set of Falken Wildpeak AT3W’s and they’re great so far. Wheel lug nut torque is easy enough to check yourself, a competent shop will always final torque with a torque wrench but some techs want to just zip stuff on with the air gun and call it hood because they’re using torque impact sockets.

I wasn’t trying to imply load E tires were inherently an issue, just that a heavy and out of balance tire is an issue.

Oh no I understood what you meant about the E load range tires. Yea I’m sure that’s where they’ll start with it if they have time, if not it’ll have to go for an alignment after it’s leveled anyway so I’ll just have it done then. And you’re not kidding about Goodyears. I’ve had mucho headache from all 3 sets I’ve had.

I too don’t care for spacer lifts, but I at least somewhat get installing them on a low mileage truck. For a lot of us who want to lift or level, the truck may already have 50k+ miles when we do it. At that point the shocks are getting more worn out, so it just makes sense to install better riding and more dependable shocks and struts with something like a Bilstein 5100. Many choose to go a step further and go with a whole new coilover, since you’re already working in there why not change the springs too especially if you need heavier springs for your add ons. Between my 2010 and 2017 I have had no issues associated with lifting the front 2.5-3 inches for tens of thousands of miles. I used to be a Chevy guy. I’ve found the GM half tons you’re accustomed to usually eat through front end components faster when you lift the front than Toyota trucks do.

There are enough guys here running 37s that I'm sure the Tundra platform isn't the issue with your setup.

That’s good to hear! My GM trucks never really went through any front end parts except for a wheel bearing on a Sierra that had 150k on it. Yes it was leveled with spacers in the front, 3” in total, but I kind of doubt that was the issue lol. Thanks for the feedback!

I’m pretty sure it’s not either. I just like to hear people gripe honestly. I’ve noticed many Tundra owners wouldn’t be caught with an aftermarket USB cable. And an aftermarket leveling kit!?! :eek2: You’ll die! I love pushing buttons;)

Me personally, I don’t want cheap parts in an expensive truck. Not to mention you can get a decent coil over set for a decent price. Rear shocks aren’t much either. Just like I don’t do rear lift blocks. I have broken them. Lift shackle or leaf springs. Your killing 2 birds with one stone. Upgrading your shocks and a better ride. Way better ride than a cheap spacer lift. I am seeing people on the wheel and tire thread over on the 2022 forum buying Amazon $40 spacer and $50 wheel spacer for their $60+k trucks. Wow is all I can say.

Man I’ve been reading the same stuff. I’ve used spacer lifts to level, never anything crazy which I think some on here have misread. But, these people throwing wheel spacers on 35s and 37s… maximum cringe. In the GM world that’s the thing everyone bashes on (like the spacer lifts here). Too many wheels shearing studs after wheel spacers for me. Which I’ve never liked the tires outside the fender anyway. Stuffed and tucked

I think the 2022 guys are doing at least the spacers anyway because it's a temp fix until suspension kits are released.

I am not gonna lie, I did have a wheel spacer kit in my truck recently. I did buy SpiderTrax, one of the best if not the best spacers. Never had an issue and did it because the wheels I wanted, SCS Ray10 weren’t in stock. So I did a spacer kit for the time being. Now I have my wheels and the spacers are out. But I would have never bought $50 spacers from Amazon for my truck. Like I said me personally I just prefer to do it the best way possible and be done. I am not going all out crazy and doing $3k worth of coilovers for a pavement queen but a decent set of coilovers improves your ride and is way better than a spacer. I am on my 4th tundra. 3 of them have had lifts. 2 of them coilovers and 1 had a spindle and coil over lift (6”).

There’s a couple lifts on the market, wheels to make the offset instead of spacers. BUT I agree, probably waiting on a specific brand to come out with a kit they like.

To answer your click bait title, unfortunately Toyota is still the best. This gen might be the newest (build date) most reliable truck you can buy. Although not perfect, it is built to last.

Why do I say unfortunately...? Because competition is always good for the consumer and I feel that to some degree Toyota knows they have the market well cornered in the "trusted" category. If Ford, Chevy, or Dodge could step up their game and earn the same reputation we would all benefit by having more options when it comes to making sure your hard earned money will last when purchasing a vehicle.

current Gen? You mean the Gen 3s?? I thought it was one of the worst vehicles I’ve ever driven. Well, the one I test drove was anyway

I meant it in the context of the current vehicle gen we are talking about (2.5 generation 2014-2021). Buying one would be the newest by build date you could get if searching for "most reliable"

I edited the post to clarify.

I share the same opinion about the 2022+

I understand what you’re saying now. I know some that have bought the ‘22s think they’re the best thing since sliced bread. But I wouldn’t want to say my $70,000 truck was a turd either

I got my 16 with a dealer installed 3/2 spacer lift on 305/55r20s. It rode like that for 50k miles. Pulled that off and installed 6112's at 1.9 setting because alignment was never right. Blisteins were the same price as new uca's so why not. Went to 34's around the same time.
    I'm now at 74k.

Probably 40k miles have had a 21' bass boat behind it. 10k with a 28' tt behind it. Up and down 30 year old unmaintained logging roads for 6 deer seasons that jeeps spend all spring rutting out.

I had to put brakes on it at 65k and the vinyl has come loose on the center console lid because I have a cable ran out of it to plug into my head unit. Totally disappointed, Toyota is the worst.
