Just like any "off-road" package TRD OffRoad, Chevy's Z71, etc. there's a significant markup on the parts and it's never a good deal. Your resale/trade value is the main thing that will change. A dealer isn't going to give you hardly anything for parts you add but if you have a dealer installed package it's a different story.

    Usually off road is simply:

    Upgraded shocks/struts
    Thin aluminum skid plate
    AT tires

Doesn’t it also include center shifter opposed to column shifter?

Pretty sure the SR5 comes with center shifter.

The TRD Off Road comes with a moonroof, the SR5 doesn't. Everything else isn't worth the money imho. I love the moonroof on my 1st gen but I dunno if I'd pay $3000 for it.

Is the 38-gallon tank part of that package? Or is TRD OR required to get the package it’s part of?

I think you need a TRD for 38g tank on 2016+

The thin aluminum skid plate they put on most OEM kits is inferior to say an rci skid which is 1/4 thick (about $400). I think they also only put on the 4600 series Bilsteins and not the 5100s.

You can get superior shocks/adjustable coilovers for $600ish. $400 for superior skid plate.Oversized premium AT tires for $1000? (Not subtracting what you sell your stock tires for). So you save over $1000 right there.

My 17 Limited TRD OR doesn't have a sunroof, you have to step into the Limited Premium package for that and the only other option I saw was color matched rear bumpers although I'msure there is more because they are right there in price with a Platinum or 1794 regardless of TRD package. In my Limited the TRD OR package was about $100 extra.

Could be a regional or production year thing? Doing a build and price on Toyota Canada's site, the TRD Off Road package on the SR5 CrewMax adds a Power moonroof.

Here's what the TRD Off Road package offers, at least in Canada:

The only charged you $100 for the OR package!? :eek2: Never mind that your limited is stickered at $5K less then the SR5 with TRD Off Road package I built.

That does it. I'm moving to the USA...

My total sticker was $47k and some change. TRD OR, Entune Premium, all-weather floor mats, tailgate insert, and spray in bedliner. I didn't want anything more or anything less, it had the exact options I wanted.

You can get the TRD OR package on a 1794 here, not on a Platinum for some reason, and I believe it is still a $100 option. The thing is a Limited TRD OR and a 1794 TRD OR look exactly the same except the front bumper between the chrome ends on the 1794 is kind of grayish where the Limited is black. Grills are the same on both.

I changed out my shocks and coil overs.
Also TRD pro skid plate is not included. Just a flimsy metal sheet. Not worth it in my opinion. The billy’s They put on it suck and ride harsh. Get a regular package and put your own shocks skidplates and decals and rims for maybe a third less AND you get way better stuff

I believe the SR5 Upgrade Package is what gets you the 38 gallon tank, console shifter, and power driver seat.

My .02. It is not worth it at all. I ordered my gen 1 without it because i upgraded all the stuff that it would have come with.

The TRD package is margin for the dealers. They order all of the trucks with it so they can make more money. So typically you will only find trd trucks on the lot, so nbd if you have to buy it.

The trd off road package gets you the rim and tire “upgrade” and the bilstiens all the way around. Mine also included the color matched rear bumper. The sr5 upgrade gets you the 38 gallon tank with a couple extras. I will take a picture of my sticker when I get home.....is it worth it? Depends - if you have the resources to install yourself you ay save a few hundred dollars but I prefer the convenience of getting it already in the truck. I am not as unhappy with the bilsteins as some.

OP does not mention double cab or crew cab so the moonroof comments are moot. The Bilsteins that come with the TRD Offroad package are comparatively a low budget shock compared to whats offered in other suspension selections.

The trd off road shocks are the same internally as the 5100s that a lot of people upgrade to..
