Buy the PRO. I love mine and would of regretted going "poor mans PRO" route.

In the end its your money and your choice.

Here's my daily driver. White is my least favorite color. In the past i would have never passed it up. I'm a Toyota guy normally but a Cancer diagnosis changed things a bit. I just sold my 21 Tundra Platinum. I've owned 2 Tacoma's, a 4Runner and a Supra. I bought the TRX in March so this is my dilemma lol20220511_181255.jpg 20220511_181337.jpg

Once you start modding you are doing it for you and you only. Translation: you are further depreciating the value of the vehicle as compared to leaving it stock. If that doesn't matter go have fun. If it does buy the PRO, go have fun and know that you won't be seeing such a high deprecation.

My PRO arrives in a couple of weeks. It's white on red and will be getting XPEL PPF applied.

Get the stealth wrap. You won’t be disappointed (but make sure to find a place that knows how to do it. A good wrap shop is like a good tattoo artist. Some are okay but some are friggin amazing).

First off your truck looks awesome. Second I wish I could, but it would be insanely expensive. I’m in British Columbia. I did consider it just the same. Matte white would be cool.

I’ve gotten a few cars done and the shop is great. Can’t even tell it’s on. I’m getting full front, lights, pillars, roof-line, rockers and door pockets.

Get the PRO. It will hold its value and you waited this long. You'll regret not getting it.

This is what people forget. Sure you can get an sr5 and build it but the resale you won’t get back what you put in. Pro , you will

Exactly! Look at the used values of any other TRD PRO tundra, tacoma, 4runner. They go for more than their sr5/trd sport off road counterparts.

I mean you most of the time will not get your investment back in aftermarket parts. The time and effort of parting out is not worth it to some.

Also the added features would be missed by most in a sr5, especially if you are truly off roading.

To each their own though. If you are already willing to buy a TRD PRO, I doubt you are penny pinching on mods.

They have also always cost a lot more up front, and in this market, they almost always carry a higher dealer-added-markup. If you can get one for MSRP, you can probably drive it for free for 6 months or so. Or sell it in a week for a few grand.

But if you bought it with a $10k+ market adjustment, good luck breaking even after all is said and done.
If you are truly off-roading, a 1" lift and the abysmal approach and departure angles that the '22 Pro comes with from the factory aren't going to cut it. The camera views are slick, but that seems like a solution in search of a problem to me.

There's also a difference between fitting 34s or 35s without rubbing on pavement vs going off-road and articulating your suspension.

Get whichever one makes ya happy...I mean neither one of them have recovery hooks so they are basically both pretty much mall crawlers anyway. . :crapstorm:

If I could buy the Pro for MSRP or less I would be tempted. I tend to leave things close to stock on the ride height and suspension front though. I like the forged wheels, particularly being 18”s, I like the tires, and the shock upgrades are more than enough for my needs. The integrated light bar is a big plus since I drive at night in large critter country A LOT.

I would off road it carefully as is because one doesn’t wheel their daily driver hard unless they’re a tard. Plus I would probably drive it way past caring about cosmetics or resale. My current truck is pushing 16 years old and I’m the original owner.

If I needed more capabilities or was inclined to mod suspension beyond stock I would buy a Limited iForceMax and pay for the TRD suspension lift since it’s a pretty nice kit, and will be more capable than a TRD Pro at that point in my estimation. Maybe see if the installing dealer will install some more fancy pants shocks if I were to buy them in lieu of the TRD kit.

^Pretty much this for me as well. Also, I hate all the badging (regardless of what make/model), and for that reason alone I'd get an SR5 and go aftermarket from there. That's pretty much what I've done with all my trucks, Tundra or otherwise.

Not voodoo! Too much blue on the truck I felt. Like it on 4Runner.

cement gray is what they are missing.

I am (Likely) going the route of making my into a PRO. It will cost me the same all things considered, actually probably more once the trd lift is on, if I chose that route vs kings) I would have gotten a pro if they were MSRP or not 1.5 years + out on the WL. The largest yota dealer in CO wouldnt even take my reservation for a pro because they just have too many

Personally - I’d buy a ‘23 Pro (once they are available without the stupid markup - which is unlikely to be anytime in ‘22 unless already in line - and even then should be able to sell the spot for a profit). Get benefit of no markup and if wait till mid year 23 - the problems have hopefully been corrected.

Better yet - buy a ‘21 Pro and save 20k towards your next Tundra - odds are in 2025/6 the price difference will likely be half what you saved - sure a 21 will be worth less - but I’d rather have a 40k truck and 20k cash than a 50k truck myself - especially with the 40k truck being a 5.7.

Ultimately your money though / go with what makes most sense for you and what YOU can afford.

If your heart is set on a Pro, go for it. You won't regret it but if you buy a SR5 and mod it, I'm almost positive it will always be in the back of your mind that its still not a Pro.

    :duh:

Yes historically it has been the best truck to buy and keep forever.

And yes it has also historically held more of its value than similarly equipped trucks from the competition after the warranty is over.

These statements are not in conflict; they are two sides of the same coin.

Even if you have no intention of selling (which most who buy a Toyota truck don't), I think it still would matter incase your situation changed and needed to sell your vehicle.
