i personally love the parking assist. u can get as close as u can into tight parking spaces without worrying if ur gonna clip something which is handy. The cruise control sonar is cool too. the RCTA i can do without. BSM is handy too especially when u have tinted windows. its tough to see out of mine so the extra feature helps. The way i see it anything to keep u or ur fam safer is well worth whatever money u pay out for it. youll save more on car insurance anyway.

Looks like we are in the minority. I don't remember the last time I parallel parked. I rarely use cruise. Also as long as I have driving I have learned how to set my mirrors properly. Back up camera is really all I need. They keep adding all this crap to vehicles pricing the average Joe out of the new vehicle market.

I had it on my F150. Drove me nuts backing a trailer up. still handy in tight spots though.

I don't parallel park much and I try to take the Corolla if I know I'm going somewhere congested.

I never use cruise. It's not like I live in the mountains or anything but there are enough hills around here that I can get at least 1 L/100 km better by letting my speed fluctuate a little.

I don't know how the front park assist works but I think it would be most helpful if it gives you a different tone when you're, say, 1 ft away than when you're, say, 3 ft away. Otherwise I consider it useless without a front camera. If I were in a scenario where I needed it, I'd just get my wife to jump out and guide me.

I suppose I can see the benefits of rear park assist if you're trying to parallel park in a tight spot and thus have to watch lots of angles simultaneously. However, I think it still goes back to your point about driving. If you're not sure if you're going to hit something without a computer telling you, get out and look. Too many people rely on the nannies and don't know how to drive any more.

I only consider a backup camera a necessity on something big with big blind spots like a truck. It's nice to have on a car but you can get along without it in most scenarios. I actually opted for a cheaper model without a camera (and nav, touchscreen and chrome) when I bought my last car in 2012.

Back up camera makes hooking up to a trailer 100x easier. On a car I agree.

I like it. Sometimes I'm daydreaming when I'm in reverse...even the camera cant save me sometimes.

At the end of the day you can’t add BSM, RCTA, and the parking assist sonar (without HUGE investments) so I’m going to stick with my truck order so I have it on My truck...

Oddly enough when I called to get an insurance quote on my new 2020 Tundra it was 10 bucks more a month than my 2007 tacoma.... WTH !!
When I asked them why it so cheap they told me it was because of all the newer safety features that are on it reduce parking lot, blind spot, ... collisions so it makes my insurance cheaper... Cool Beans !

Good call IMO. The nannies are nice and can be turned off when annoying.

I love my parking assist. This was a requirement when I purchased my Tundra. I only drove small cars prior. It is a life saver when I transitioned from a 2 door civic to a full size truck. Didn’t care for BSM or the TSS as I turn my head to look at my blind spot when changing lanes and I get false alarms when driving in rain/snow.

Just wished the Pros had the parking sensors when I was in the market..oh well, hind sight now.

I have it on my 19 Platinum. Never had it in a vehicle before, I'll say having the park assistance with backing up is a little overkill since you have a rear camera, but having it on the front is helpful since it is hard to judge how far you are from what's in front of you. The BSM does work but I don't rely on it and put the little convex mirror in the corners to see my blind spots. The RCTA does really work and picks up a car coming down the street if you're backing out of your driveway or a parking spot. You do have to end up turning off the parking sensors when it snows though because the snow blocks them and they will just beep for no reason.

The rear ones only beep when in reverse and I can turn the alert off if I'm trying to hook up a trailer and dont want it to beep all the time. The front one will only alert under a certain speed, like under 10 mph and can be turned off like the rear. Is the Tundra the same?

My 07 Tundra DC, with a ARE shell, has sonar park assist and no rear camera....I use the dash switch to turn it off most of the time, but when parking in tight or limited depth spots it is helpful. Like someone else said...like having a buddy guide you in.

Yes, you can turn it off.

And for the love of Pete, can we all agree it is not sonar and stop calling it that?

Yes it does make sounds, but there is a switch beneath the climate controls to turn it on/off. I find the tech helpful but it has to be off when trailering something or driving in fields where plants are above the bumper.

ETA: Just got the joke. LOL

The adaptive cruise control uses Radar, not Sonar.

I LOVE the parking assist. That's only because I can't hear it. So I don't even know it's there, unless the wife asks what's making all the beeping noise. Of course, I have trouble hearing her, too. ;)

Mine thinks I am going to back into my trailer, but the trailer is sneaky and always seems to move out of the way.
