Today was engine flush day using Liqui Moly. Fill into warm engine and run on idle for 10 minutes. Drain and re-fill. Here is where I took another step and filled with Castrol Synthetic as a sacrificial oil as a secondary flush (no Liqui Moly this time) of the first flush. Picture is of fresh Castrol on right straight out of jug and the same Castrol driven with only 25 miles! straight out of brand new Mobil filter. No pics of original flush job but just think very dirty looking oil).

I then drained the Castrol sacrificial oil and refilled with Mobil1 Advanced Full Synthetic 5w-30. Stuff doesn’t even smell like oil.

So were you happy with the results of the Liqui Moly?

Yes. The cleaning results just from the second 25 mile change were impressive. The original flush was pretty dirty but no chunks.

The current Mobil1 Synthetic Oil seems to be performing nicely. Engine quiet and not hearing that heat tick. Been towing loads and between the oil and the new valve cover gaskets, every thing is aok! Definitely been popping the hood and inspecting things frequently since all the work was performed.

MPG with towing/city driving is about 10MPG which is normal to past numbers so no increase in MPG due to flushing. Engine might seem a bit cooler than normal when popping hood?

Just need to get to 4000 miles under the new oil for the real test of longevity. The online reviews from the serious BMW guys all said their oil looked fresher when it came time to change their oil compared to before they Liqui Molly’d.

Overall, for $16 can of flush (and another $20 for sacrificial oil change not necessary), I’d say its worth it. Will report back in 4000 miles.
