It sure looks like it from the lines of the truck and the wide stance.20150321_095851.jpg

Yeah but if you work on anything long enough you know everything that could use improvement and are bound to grow negative thoughts about it. Nothing is perfect. Bet the techs working on the space shuttle thought it was a piece of sh*t too. But it got the job done.

My friend who thinks Ford makes the only "real" truck believes that the Tundra towing the shuttle commercial was staged. He probably thinks we never landed on the moon too. :laser: :homer:

They have been since the 90's... Why do you think a toyota diesel(HINO) is not here, it should have been here since 1998 (first tundra) a straight 6 diesel turbo. Big three are scared. They know and they(big three) lobby(congress) it too to keep toyota at bay.

It'll be fun doing body work on the new Ford's aluminum sheet metal and trying to get it back into shape. :smash:

Also next time you see a new Chevy Colorado, take a look at the rear doors/windows on the 4 door version. Exactly like my DC's. (Except built better of course.)

Youv'e seen Chevy truck commercials about their truck of steel. Toyota has always been up and down with their truck advertising. The shuttle commercial is the one I remember most. Toyota doesn't have a hard time selling trucks and Ford certainly didn't. Not sure what's up with Ford. Aluminum is cool' but?????

I should have bought more stock in alcoa few years back. I could be getting a nice return.

Ford has the assembly lines where toyota doesnt. Niow if toyota would expand the 1794 plant (texas plant) to the size of the land there output would be insane to most automobile plants.

This is interesting:www.toyotatexas.com Toyota is using only 2600 of the 4000 acres they acquired according to ToyotaTexas. The could easily add a diesel Tacoma/Tundra line.

Hopefully Toyota won't fumble on this again. A decent diesel in a Tundra would change my whole outlook on things.

Really they dont have to add a diesel line the current line can handle it. ;)

Not going to happen with the big three :rant:unless toyota lobby's.

IMO: Honestly im glad toyota pulled away from cum a part engine they are junk anyway ( you want china made parts in your tundra?) . Only thing (cummins) they have going for them is the EPA exhaust mandate. That is easy done with a lower compression ratio compared to 15 years ago.

Nissan is junk anyway. timing chain failures do to china made parts and poor QC checking is a known issue in the industry.

I know there's been talk of Toyota expanding overall truck production requiring a larger facility. Even Mexico has been considered as a possibility for that expansion. Could be total BS too. How about turning the spare acreage into a giant themed off road park? Only trucks allowed that are 100% American made and 80%+ American sourced parts.:mudding:

toyota has been in mexico for years building tacomas not just texas. TMMBC

Toyota was smart they would use mexico as a export station for other country's do to the yen and labor wages. Long as the suppliers stay here i dont see a real problem it will add jobs here. Toyota has confirmed new plant in mexico. http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/cars/2015/04/15/toyota-mexico-corolla-factory/25811997/

I dont see toyota expanding 1794 plant for some time, i dont believe its at full production, like georgetown ky for example.

Although I prefer Americans to be building all our trucks (you probably do too), in the real world Mexicans need real jobs, their poor economy is what drives them to come here. (cartels are not helping) Main thing is to have most trucks made here and what is not , to use USA suppliers like you said. (actually main thing is Quality Control, here and south of the border)

Toyota has cash on hand lets see how they spend it and where. mexico is cheap but the Qc isnt there. Sony learned the hard way there.

Until i see a diesel toyota plant for engines, in the works built in usa the diesel tundra is a dream :(.
