I can get a pic with the new red tow hooks if you need them. The bolts were long enough to go through the skid plate and new tow hooks. Looking at the Talons skid plate it looks like it mounts the same as the TRD skid. Possibly compare this side view to your current Talons skid but from online viewing "I don't have a Talons skid" they look the same. If you need more pics of the bumper with the TRD skid let me know I would be happy to help you.

The skid plate just needs to be tight against the frame rails.. I suggest use a floor jack to press the skid plate against the frame by placing it in the middle of the skid to apply pressure. But, no it was fairly easy to do. A second set of hands is needed on the bumper to make it easier though.

I am currently in the process of designing a laser cut/steel bent lighting cross bar that will bolt to the top of the bumper (only about 1" tall) to mount 4 larger lights to the front Baja style. It would push the lights out front a little bit farther so brackets would clear the grill. Would any body be interested in buying something like that for their bumper if I had a few made? Still working on cost, just judging interest.

Curious to what it would be attached to? One of the removable top plates?

Thats the current working theory. A half inch bolt through the first set of top wings.

Light bar update. Having it made out of 11ga (1/8") Cold Rolled Steel.
Should be here in 2 weeks. Will powder coat locally to match the bumper if it all works out.
These are from the bottom side.

Ok lighting cross bar update. The first one didn't turn out exactly how I wanted it too. I need a slight redesign of moving the mounting tabs 1.5-2 inches backwards to clear to tubing of the bumper. Also need to raise it about 1/8inch for some extra bolt clearance. Also not sure if i should make the whole thing shorter in length so that there isnt any overhang on the first angle backwards?

Before doing any other design iterations try putting a light on there as well. The mounting slots near the center look like they may place a light too close to the lower painted part of the grill.

Yes it does. i need the bar to run over the tubing. So i have to push the mounting tabs back a few inches so i can push the bar farther forward. But when i do that i dont like the overhang of the bumper.

Why not do something like this? (sorry for the crude, quick model)

First of all sick model. Thats actually what Im working towards now with the design. Slightly different but close. There is not enough room to mount lights on the bend backwards. But going to try to make it follow the bumper lines better.

Thanks. I do this sort of stuff for a living so if you have any questions or want to bounce an idea around feel free to reach out. I do all the design work and prototyping at the company I work for, which includes programming our CNC press brake, machining, etc.

I have been looking for a way to mount baja lights as well, especially a way to remove the lights first, then remove the grille. What about drilling rivet nuts into the top plates, removing the need for a bar altogether?

Doing it that way puts them too close to the grill that it makes contact. If you'd like after I finish this design and have a good working model, Ill sell you one.

Gotcha. When you settle on the final design, let me know.

Here is the updated design that I sent to manufacturing. Screenshot 2025-04-17 at 9.57.24 AM.jpg

I might have the tabs welded together and smooth them out unless it looks fine in person.
