Ironman 4x4 Suspension

Hey guys I am about to pull the trigger on the stage 2 foam cell pro kit. For the guys running the kit . Have you done diff drop ?

I messaged a rep from ironman 4x4 and one guy told me there's no need

But I seen on one of there YouTube videos, and they have the diff drop installed. and I ask if its recommended to do with the stage 2 kit and they told me yes it recommend

 

I'm installing mine this weekend, I'll let you know what I see. I don't have one at the moment with a 3 inch lift on the front and it doesn't look like it needs it.

Negative, they charge too much. 50 bucks for an 18 dollar top hat.. come on

 

Curious if anyone here has left their rear end at stock height and installed the coilovers adjusted down to a ~2" lift, essentially leveling the truck... I just don't want that much lift so I can keep my garage access. Thinking about trying that and swapping out just the rear shocks w/ no lift back there. I love the way the FCP suspension rides on Land Cruisers.

 

That’s exactly what I did. I will say that I am one of the few on this thread who is not really happy with the ride but that’s just me.

I came from stock Bilstein TRD shocks which I thought were jarring on bumps. The Ironmans (standard load spring) felt much stiffer feeling every imperfection in the road. They shine at higher speeds over bumps and I will say after about 2000 miles they feel much better than when I first installed them. I am hoping they really start to feel plush over the next few thousand miles. I don’t want this to be perceived as a negative review as I still think they will get better but I did not have the same reaction as some guys on here who said the ride was amazing and plush right out the gate. I have had Eibachs before and they were more comfortable.

 

Ironman is running a site wide 25% fall sale. No affiliation. I’ve just been eyeballing the cell foam pros for awhile and decided to look at the site today… Everyone still love there Ironman lifts??

 

It's a permanent sale, they've been doing it all year as a way to attract new people, they just change the name of the season

Does anyone know where I can find a comparison between the Ironman lift vs the Dobinsons lift?

 

I had these on my radar for a while. But after all the recent negative reviews of the shock body and spring contact and rougher ride quality I decided to pass..I know RC gets a bad rap for the majority of their items but the new vertx adjustable ride quality coilover and shocks caught my eye. After watching the custom offsets review on the youtubes I may pull the trigger this coming spring.

They look great, but the spring rate on the coilovers is 750lbs.......I could see them riding like a freight train....

 

I noticed those issues too which has me hesitant. I’ll check out the RC’s. Trail Runners seem to be sold out.

BTW, I’m up in Montana too! Flathead area.

 

Got the rear springs and shocks in, those things are BEEFY. I will be doing the fronts tomorrow.

 

I spoke to one of the reps about this exactly . They explained that moving them from 3.5 to a lower height like 2 inch will make the suspension very rough riding . They told me 3.5 offers the most plush ride . I think 3inch in the front would be a good compromise .

 

Would be really nice if we can get one of the techs from ironman 4x4 to join the forum and answer our questions and concerns . They would definitely sell more units

 

Yeah I’m calling BS on that one. That’s contrary to every other coilover on the market. And while their techs were easy to get a hold of, their lack of knowledge on the products they sell was surprising. Each tech was giving me different information on ride heights, spring rates, order information, etc.

 

I was thinking the same thing.
I could possibly see it happening if some sort of progressive rate spring was used but from all the pictures I have seen of their springs they appear to be linear rate.
I just don’t see lessening the preload having a negative effect on ride.
Though I have been wrong on occasion and if I am would gladly like to know why theirs work differently than others in this regard.

 

I got the fronts assembled at a local suspension shop that has done a few so far, nice place.

However.. the drivers side coil is bowed like the others have found and it is already contacting the shock body. The passenger side seems to be fine, just a little bow to it but not bad. I even had them set at 3 inches of lift rather than the 3.5.

Filed a warranty claim.. really not impressed with the quality.

I was hoping it was just a fluke that a few had the bowed springs but it seems they still have a problem.

I can't recommend them at this time.

This seems to be a design issue. A real bummer, I've been planning on going this route for a while, but now I'm having second thoughts.

 

I have a Fabtech 6" lift on my 13 Tundra and was looking to get rid of my 3" block in back and also get rid of my stock coilovers with the 6" extentions so I got the Vertex +6" for the front and the +4" Ironman spring packs for the rear to get rid of the 3" blocks, after reading this thread it seems most people are getting roughly 2" in back with the spring packs so I ordered some coachbuilder +3" shackles. Figuring if I get 2" from the spring packs and 1.75" from the shackles that will match my front lift pretty good. I got the Vertex coilovers and man are they beefy, most likely will buy the rears to.

 

I got about a 3” rear lift out of the 0-450# leaf pack with the shackles that come with the set. I don’t remember if I measured or not but def higher than factory + ToyTec shackles set at 1.5” lift

Good deal. Let me know how they do. I like that you can adjust them at that price point. You can get the 3 5" kit with arms and adjustable vertx shocks for 2200 bucks

 

I ended up sending the Vertex coilovers back, after talking to a local shop. They said basically if it's a street queen the Vertex are ok but any kind of off roading I would be better off with Dirt logic to match my lift so that's what I ended up doing. I also asked them what they would charge to install the new spring packs $700 , yeah I ended up putting them on last night and super glad I did, the ride is much improved even with the cheap fabtech rear basic shocks. I will probably go with icons or dirt logic in back. Also for those who want to know the ride hight matched my previous 3" block hight perfect from center of wheels to fender before was 26" and is still 26" of course it may settle a bit so I will keep checking it, but saves me $350 not having to use the coachbuilder shackles and the ironman ones are beefy as fuck and seem really nice.

 

I took them back to my suspension shop to maybe reposition the coil and top hat to get the bow out but it was a no-go. The bow just followed the spring around with no change to it, still hits the shock body.

Really disappointed in these so far, I took a chance and got bit.

Looks like they are out of stock for a couple more weeks, meanwhile my truck sits un-drivable.

If they can't get me something soon, this might be a full return.
