Not very. 4 or 6 screws and it comes down easy.

Sorry to keep harassing you on the issue. The light works when I turn off the ignition. But when I open the door it's the only light that cuts off. The driver map, and 2 domes stay illuminated but the passenger cuts off. Does that sound like a switch issue? Also. I don't see any torx screws. Do I have to pop the plastic cover off first?

PermafrostTrd, you have 3rd gen Tundra? The 6 torx screws on the 2nd gens are front, middle, and back. Do you have short overhd console or the long version

Yeah 3rd gen. I think it's the short version of the consoleimage.jpgthe passenger map light is intermittent. It just cut on when I opened the door then it flickered off just 2-3 seconds after it cut on.
So weird. It's the second "bulb" (JDM Astar) and I've swapped the polarity thing for each.

Yeah that's the short console. The screws should be in the front and rear compartmenta. I have the long version and there were 6 total. I would think just 4 for that console.

No sounds like relay or something. With mine the light didn't work at all when the switch was blown.

Not sure if there is one. Just sounds like that would be the case if only one light is shutting off but the others stay on. There is something in play that has a timmer for keeping the lights on for a certain amount of time before shutting off automatically when you shut the door right.

Well gentlemen, the issue has resolved itself. I did absolutely nothing and it's working properly now. I'm guessing the ole Sky Silver overheard me discussing the possibility of electrical surgery and panicked and decided to function properly again.

Thank you for your advice and information. @csuviper @rons23

I did not. Didn't want to jinx and/or break anything. I'll take a closer look if it starts acting up again.

I know this thread has been dead for awhile but hopefully someone can answer a question. I think my console is beyond repair. I’ve found several used ones for an ok price, but they all say w/o Bluetooth. You can clearly see the mic in the photos, an I missing something?

    Hello,
I have been gone for a minute. The Tundra is running well after some new shoes going to see what others have been doing here. But I too have the issue with the lights. Mine is in the rear. Every time I place a bulb in they blow the same 7.5 fuses. I too went to the auto part store and no fuses...wtw?? Going to take some advice and pull the fuse then see with a good flashlight to see if anything is in there. Place led bulbs in and replace fuse and pray for the best. Will let everyone know how this goes:fingerscrossed:

I should have seen this post before blowing the fuse. I will remove the fuse before replacing the led lights.

    Hey Ron,
What were the symptoms you were having with your lights? I have two that will not turn off unless the battery is disconnected. I replaced my year old auxtitos with the fyre flys because they would hyperflash. Now I wish I just left them alone haha

I am having a similar issue on a 2008 Sequioa.

Overhead interior lights no longer work, and the clock on the dash reads 1:00 each time the truck is started. Both issues occurred about the same time.

I am at a loss, and have no clue where to start diagnosing an electrical problem like this other than the fuses.

Which 7.5 amp fuse was blowing?

I checked the fuse box under the hood yesterday, but I didn't see anything that stood out to me as "interior lights." I was pressed for time when I was searching though.

I looked around the dash, and kick panel areas for an interior fuse box, and did not see one. I'm guessing it could be in the back by the hatch since it is a sequioa. I am not very fluent with it, and do not tinker as much as I do with my 1st gen

Like I said in my original 10 minute inspection I was pressed for time. Once I have a chance I will dive into it in depth.

    @NewImprovedRon

Finally had a chance to look at the engine bay fuse box in depth.

Found a blown fuse in this location. (See picture #34, pulled 33 out to test the circuit. Looks like all things are go.)
    20200517_104228.jpg Screenshot_20200517-103754_Chrome.jpg

Installed LEDS while the fuse was blown. Super nice.

Verified that the light switches still worked as proper. Super nice.

Now I need an assortment of these "mini-me" fuses.

    Source for screenshots: https://www-autogenius-info.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/www.autogenius.info/toyota-sequoia-2008-2017-fuse-box-diagram/amp/?amp_js_v=a3&amp_gsa=1&usqp=mq331AQFKAGwASA=#aoh=15897298097488&referrer=

Used my web browsers "find in page" option to search for dome, or courtesy lights. Greatly sped up my search.

I did not check to see if this fixed the clock resetting issue. I'm assuming both systems are tied into the same 7.5 amp fuse?

I am not familiar with the Sequoia, or 2nd gen in all honesty.

I am just starting to get my feet wet in that world as little things go wrong, and are mended.

    Thanks a bunch Ron!

    Cheers.

    Update:

Fuse #34 according to the diagram provided seems to have also fixed the clock resetting back to 1 o'clock at each start up also.

Now if only I could diagnose the radio turning itself on, and off. Sometimes the radio will have power and audio, but no information shown on the readout. Strange.

There has been ZERO radio upgrades done that I'm aware of.

I tried to use the search bar, but no luck.

There is a service record for that by the dealership in 2012. The dealership updated records saying "No work was done."
