My Tundra limited has the 14" screen and I am not a fan. I thought I wanted it and after having had my truck for a month I wish I had the smaller screen

My 14in screen looked so big when I first got it. After a couple of months of driving, I wish it was bigger lol.

I wanted a faster vehicle so I also bought a Chevy SS... because 4 door sedans with big V8’s are hilarious.
Unfortunately at this point the 3rd Gen seems to have as many minor annoyance QC issues as any other brand too. So the argument that you get Toyota quality and reliability is a bit suspect at this time.

So if I had to buy a truck today, any of them would have to have an extended warranty. Feature for feature on MSRP they’re all within the same price range. With that in mind I would pick whatever brand gave the most features I want for the price. Unfortunately given Toyota’s business model that probably means it wouldn’t be a Toyota.

I hope to sit this market out for another year, and maybe by then Toyota will prove the new Tundra lives up to their QDR claims.

Toyota does this all over the configurator. Want Airbags in the back? Only black interior. Want tow mirrors? Only black interior. Want airbags and tow mirrors together, as any sane person would think to match? Not an option.

Thankfully, I wanted TRD Sport Lunar Rock for my truck.

Here is a picture of a 8in headunit. It looks like its missing one connection. I'm wondering if the 14 unit had a cable connected to the one missing on the 8in one....

    Here are both pictures.

Maybe for the additional 360° cameras? Looks damn near identical otherwise!

The owner in the other thread, said the 14in only had 10 connectors, even though it had 11 ports.

UPDATE: The owner of the 14in unit says that the picture of my 8in unit plugged in matches up. Even though he has 11 ports, he only had 10 connectors connected (the one missing on the 8in unit is blank on the 14in unit), meaning it should just be plug and play. I guess we need someone to grab one from a salvage yard or get one on ebay (looks to be about $800-$1000) but it looks to be a fairly easy swap.

Looks like the air vents will need to be purchased somewhere also. The units on ebay all have the inside of the vents missing. I cant find a Part # anywhere. Does anyone have one?

Thats missing the side vents. It has the outline but you need the inside and also the flaps. If you get those it should be an easy upgrade

You will also need the volume knob below. Not sure how simple that would be.

You don't necessarily "need" it. You can just use the steering wheel controls or even voice control. I dont use the knob now.

So I found this. Its a pic of the part numbers for the dashboard. Maybe someone could find them somewhere based on the part number. Im really really interested in getting the 14" screen from eBay, but I have a 2023 SR5 model.
Here is the link to the pic with the part numbers I found on a YT Video:

Ya not exactly sure but that might be the 8in picture. I've searched and cannot find the vent part #s. It probably easier to just ask your dealer. I was hoping someone on here would know but nothing yet.

I think you can use the same black box part thats on the 8in but you need to get the single horizontal vent pieces from somewhere

Not sure how you would reboot the unit if needed without the knob. I have needed to do that before.

Turn the car on and off? We're talking about edge cases. I havent had to reboot mine. If theres an issue with Android Auto, I just restart my phone and it fixes it. I honestly didnt even know you could reboot with the knob. But I get what your saying, for me I wouldnt even think twice about the knob

Believe me I am too, but those vents will be hard to find. Thats the only thing holding me back now to buy the screen.

Guy on facebook says if you switch them out, Toyota wont activate the new headunit so you lose Toyota Connect (Remote start, Sirius). Not sure how true.

Thats my thinking too. If it supports all the functions of the original stock one, including the cameras and stuff, then yeah I would go for this.

no its not that, you have to understand the logistics, Toyota barely makes 100k tundras annually, vs the big 3 make close to 1 million or more annually, which means they literally have 10x the parts/inventory/logistics all already staged to do one off/custom orders.

If you think Toyota intentionally does this to turn away buyers and make them mad, think again, why would they intentionally not try to improve and cater to it - ez the $ and logistics doesnt make sense for the tiny amount of owners that want that.
