We were not thinking about it, but now the truck is going to be left overnight at half a dozen different hotels and in truck trailer lots at Lake Powell while we are fishing. Sooooooooo, yup, ordered one from Talon a couple of days ago.

If the shape isn't too complex you could just get a sheet metal shop to cut and bend a piece for you. Then you can pop rivet it onto the main shield yourself.

    Good day Ted,

I'm the one running Asylum and just kicking things off in the market so no real reviews yet. I'm certainly interested in getting feedback once some folks decided to purchase one of my plates.

Looking forward to helping some people out!

    Lots of stuff!
I finally got around to putting my RCI set in. It's been sitting waiting for a dry day.

Instructions could have been better but I found some pictures of the finished product which helped.

I actually have stock right now for the non-hybrid so I can ship this week, possibly even Monday/Tuesday if you ordered right away.

I've just scanned the hybrid, and the 2nd generation Tundra today and I am working on development of those in short order.

Definitely putting things in motion for the full skid based on the requests I have had.

Stay tuned over the next few months!

Anyone experiencing any noises when driving up to a driveway or turning at a slow rate of speed? Some other vehicle types have exhibited noise when using skid plates.

Yes. I was getting a lot of noise.Especially at low speed when the suspending was turning and compressing. I removed my plates and I am going to try some sorbothane between the chassis and the plates.

Not that I have noticed. I have TRD engine skid and Talons 1/4" alu cat shield.

I have TRD skid and TT cat shield, since my truck has been back from its oil change the skids creak loudly when driving on and off the driveway and turning the wheels, it was quiet before.

That may be due to the way the TT shield is attached in the front just being sandwiched between the frame and skid plate and held together with the two small rear skid plate bolts. Other plates, like the Talons, have a separate large front hanger bolt that keeps the cat shield firmly mounted to the truck before you reattach the skid plate. I'd bet that most of these noises come from cat shields that don't have that front hanger bolt.

We actually have the Front, and Transmission done.

Transferase plate is almost done, so it is coming. Just not fast enough!

I don't blame you for buying what is already out there though. I kind of swamped myself with projects in the mean time, but I am putting all person projects aside until I get my skid sets finished. Now that I am done buying new equipment for a little bit I am now making progress on this.

I wonder if they got a bunch of oil between the plates? Check the tightness of the nuts as well... I know on the 2nd gen trucks there was a big to do about how to properly torque the TRD pro plate, and if it wasn't done just right it would creek. Not sure if the 3rd gen is the same.

Talon is the preferred plate, I’ve installed or helped install many different plates on different model trucks.

Also recommend Talons. Placed an order on Sunday and had it Friday. Another vendor I ordered from was +4 weeks and ended up being the wrong one…

@raylo. Thanks for all the additional information and pictures. I will be in the same situation with a Talons Cat Protector (non hybrid) and the Toyota OEM TRD front skid plate.

Very pleased with Talons Cat/Trans Shield on our new ‘23 Tundra Limited TRD. Ordered and recd in less than a week. The powder coat finish was perfect. Had some questions not covered in the online install guide around the TRD skid rear mounting. Called Talon and was amazed when Isaac answered from the shop and sent me the link to this sub which covered everything. Like the extra forward sandwiched bolt keeping the Talon in place and aligned for easy TRD skid removal for oil changes. And All Holes Aligned!! It’s beefy and should easily send the midnight Cat Cockroaches away headed off to an unprotected vehicle. Thanks Talon!!

    Opens computer,

Looks at new 2022 Tundra install guide.

Ask wife, did I tell you that I updated the install guide for the 2022’s.

Gets immediate dirty look from wife.

“Babe, I updated the 2022 install guide. It’s in the product folder”

Glad you’re happy and that Issac helped you out! He’s a great kid and a great asset to us!
