installed the Spyder DRL headlights tonight and they turned out great. Was only able to disconnect the wiring from the leveling kit box on the back of the original headlights but the leveling unit was not able to be taken off. Would anybody know what I'm talking about has experience in this? I installed them anyway without connecting the leveling kit. Seams like the new spyder lights has a connecting for the leveling unit but was unable to take it off the old lights. Please help! I don't mind taking off the lights and putting the leveling kit on but it's not a life or death matter.

How do the DRL work? Do you have to run a separate power to them?

Saw a Tacoma with these Spyder lights on it today and they looked better in person. I'm definitely getting a pair of these with the tail lights to match.

can you post up a beam pattern against a wall? These look cool, but I am interested if I should spend the extra bucks for retrofits.

Totally BA, Sean. They look way better than retros, IMO. Plus, unless you do the retros yourself, the retros cost more (from what I've seen).

Speaking of lights, do you know how to remove the lens that covers the license plate lights? I'm trying to install LED's for my license plate but don't want to break something.

Reach your hand up behind the bumper and you can reach the light bulb, or you can pinch the top and bottom(might be left and right side) and they pop right out.

I think you twist them. Be careful to twist the right direction. 1/4 turn if I remember correctly.

Yes you twist the the bulb harness to get to the bulb, but there are clips on either side or top and bottom of the housing itself. Pinch and push the housing out the front.

No, it's pretty easy, plug n play. Couldn't figure how to get the leveling box off the stock lights to put on the new ones so I just left it off. How did u do it @Sean266

    They look awesome,

Dont mean to sound dumb, are they also used DRL that take the place of the ugly stock orange DRL on the SR5, will they operate the same way the LED DRL on the Platinums do!

    Thanks

I do NOT have the spyder but from what I've learned I believe it works like this.

1- In Normal DRL mode, your UGLY stock orange DRL bulb (on the SR5/Limited) will function AS IS, still being ugly orangied
2- To have the LED light bar lit up, you MUST turn on your parking light or headlight. Also, you ugly orange stock DRL will also turn on (but dimly).
3- When you turn on your headlight, the projector will be on, the LED light bar will also be on, and the ugly stock orange DRL will also be on (but dimly)

    Does this sound like, experts?

Ur right @GoHuskers the orange light will be on BUT when ur changing the lights the orange bulb is from ur factory lights that slides in the housing socket of the new spyder lights, so that being said, at this time, u can change the bulb color to a white before putting it in the socket of the new lights. Make sense? And @GoHuskers is definitely correct about the stages of the lighting sequence. The housing of the new lights where the DRL orange bulb sits is actually white, it's the bulb that makes it appears to be orange, so change it to a white bulb if u don't like the orange one.
