Hello all, long time lurker, first time posting/asking for help.

I had my truck leveled when I first got it, 3/1. I tow a trailer and had Firestone airbags installed then upgraded my suspension to Icon stage 4. The installer said it would be higher, level, and no driver's side lean. Well it is none of those. I am a fat boy and can live with a little drivers side lean, but am having problems accepting that I spent $4200 and cannot stand to look at my truck. I even had to adjust my seat for the new way it sits. The ride is great, but I lost the look I loved on my truck. The installer said he can adjust the front up but it will make the ride stiffer. Has anyone done this? How much of a difference does it make? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am only in town for a few more days and would love to have it fixed before I head back to Chicago for probably the rest of the year. I am in Houston and work up there.

Hey, welcome. So I’ve been doing a lot of research as I plan my first Tundra build. You most likely saw a drop in lift due to the coils on the those Icon 58650 shocks. They use a 600lb Eibach spring which people have been having problems getting advertised lift with. Same with the Toytec/Eibach Kit, which Toytec and Eibach have acknowledged on this forum quickly and openly. Refreshing to see. Links below outlining the same issue.

Users are reporting much less than advertised lifts with those Icon shocks and without getting the 700lb spring upgrade.

I know user @jabula_za is currently working to try and have Icon remedy the issue. At this point your best option is to mostly likely get the 700lb springs and have them put on ($$$$) or contact Icon as well. At some point they will need to acknowledge the issue when their website advertises it as a 0-3.5” lift. Given all the research I have done this has steered me from the Icons when I eventually spend thousands of dollars. Sorry man, wish I had a better answer for you!

I went from a 3/1 to icons years ago. 4wp in El Paso installed the icon coilovers for me and it initially had rake. I went back and they adjusted it to level for no charge. Seemed to be an easy fix then. Maybe your shop can do it too.

I don't mind spending the $ to get the correct springs refitted, but so far the response from Icon has been to crank up the preload and use a bump stop spacer to prevent coil bind. Not satisfied with that suggestion as it does not resolve the problem. I love Icon's products but should i be thinking twice about ordering the Icon RXT for the rear setup? We shall see - I will give it some more time and hope that Icon is able to resolve the issue for me by replacing the springs as they have done for others on here it seems.

For interest, here is the response from Icon:

    upload_2019-5-22_7-35-29.jpg

I have referred Icon representative to these threads to check the issues being reported as they are obviously indicative of a problem with the coils from the supplier.
DM me if you'd like me to include you on the thread directly with Icon in attempt to get some acknowledgement and traction on resolving this issue. Same goes for anyone else having this issue, or have had this issue.

With just the 3/1 leveling kit.

The shop is offering to raise the front but says ride will be stiffer. Has anyone done this? What is the ride like? It is great right now.

Did you put the aal in the rear, cause that might take a little time to settle to end ride height. Did you pull measurements from before and after with the icon suspension? You may not be getting the 3" of lift in the front like advertised. The aal gives 1.5" in the rear and if you aren't getting the 3" in the front that's what's giving you a lot of rake.

No, as the installer said that would make the back even higher.

I would call icon and talk to them this way they now its multiple people having this issue with the 600 lb spring not giving the advertised amount of lift. This has been going on for a while with the 600lbs you could see if they will send a pair of 700lb springs.

This doesn’t make sense. The stage 4 includes the add a leaf. If he did not install it then you should be sitting at stock height in the back and by looking at your picture the truck looks lifted in the back. It also sounds like the installer just slapped the front shocks on without adjusting them. If you want lift, they need to be adjusted. I have a stage 2 on mine. The back sits about .5 inch higher in the back after the fronts were adjusted. You’ll also see that one side may need to be adjusted more than the other to compensate for the driver side lean. This is normal and your truck will ride fine.

He said he will adjust it for me but said the ride will be stiffer. I really like how it rides now. So you think it will be pretty much the same, the ride?

He did not install the extra leaf as I have air bags for towing and he says to keep the minimum pressure in them lifts the back.

    Input? Thanks.

They can be adjusted but need to leave at least 2” of exposed thread as not to avoid icon warranty.
I did this and am still sitting with below 3” of lift.
Ride quality is good after adjusting but still no love on the lift height @ 3”

I don’t know how airbags impact lift height, but could your airbags be raising your truck too much in the back? As far is adjusting the front, you should be fine as long as he doesn’t adjust to max height of 3.5 inches. I think those icons come with 1.5-2 inches of lift out of the factory and your installer didn’t bother to adjust for more height at all. Another inch won’t hurt the ride. I’m sitting at 3 inches in the front and truck rides great.

I am going to adjust my airbags to get them level and have him adjust the front close to level. This will be the only adjustment I can make as I head back to Chicago Sunday morning. The guy is great and I know he will make adjustments whenever I get back to town later in the year.

Thanks for all of your help!

I see a lot of thread on the icons, so everyone says they can be adjusted?

Yeah - don’t leave more than 2”exposed at the top because you’ll risk coil bind and void warranty. Let me know what center hub to fender measurement is after - interested.

Oh, you will need the icon wrench and Allen key to adjust, and jack the truck up to relieve some preload. It gets tough when get close the the 2” mark

The left was 5.5#, and it was lower than the right side by .75". The right side was 4.5#. I increased the right side to 5.5#. It was 9.25" over the tire. I ended up with 20# in left side to raise it .75". So the back is level. My installer said I have to keep over 5# in the air bags. Doing this actually got the front more level. Now the front is right at 2" lower than the back at 7.75" over the tires. The installer said he can raise it to level it but it will be stiffer. My only worry.

I have the Firestone air bags. I just aired it up to get the back level, eliminate drivers side lean.

Yes, they aligned it after the suspension install.
