Nope! Graduated HS in '79. Awesome being a teen in the mid/late seventies.

Pulled over and had beer in the car? No problem, COP: "Get your ass home and I don't want to see you out here again tonight".

Caught with red eyes and some "herb" on you? No problem, COP: "Get your ass home and I don't want to see you out here again tonight".

Having "relations" with your girlfriend in the park maybe? No problem, COP: "Get your ass home and I don't want to see you out here again tonight".

Stoplight drag racing downtown on J or K street? No problem, COP: "Get your ass home and I don't want to see you out here again tonight".

Lol... Those were good and different times.

black 1973 4 dr Matador 6 cyl. 3 on the tree. Went to take my test on my 16th Bday in a 76 Cutlass Supreme 350 rocket, buckets t-tops (man was I cool) vehicle failed inspection because the front license plate had fallen off and dad had it on the passenger floor board. So as not to let me down dad paid a guy in the parking lot $20 bucks to use his car for my driving test. great thing is we were taught in driver education on a three on a tree.

1974 Dodge Charger SE with a 318, 2 barrel carb and headers. It wasn't the fastest car around but did ok because it didn't have enough power to spin them very much off the line. It was extremely consistent so I would clean up on Friday nights lol. Since I don't have pics of the car, the below is pretty damn close to what it looked like. Try as I might I couldn't kill that car...Learned to drive in a 1970 GTO, 4-speed 400 Ram Air III my dad owned.

No clue what it was besides a station wagon. My friends fathers car. She practiced parking for weeks than failed the test. I passed having never driven it. But I learned on a Valiant 3 on the tree !

A little this and that...Broke now
I had drivers ed in high school then took a drivers safety course across the street. The cars were 1986 Camaro's. Once I passed it counted as the drivers portion of my test. Still remember paying for that course 190 bucks it took forever to save that working at HEB for 3.15 per hour. But hey at least my car was cool.

One of these bad boys, didn't have that sweet hair though.

Mine was an 89 handed down from my great uncle, in 98 had a whopping 11k miles on it. Only thing power about it was brakes, no radio either. Did have some pretty sweet "RAM air" ventilation that blew crap all over when you opened it though.

Didn't have to drive to get my license. We have drivers Ed and if you were a good driver on your certificate the instructor would mark if you needed to drive to get your license.

Growing up driving things since I was 6 on the farm and off road made my instructors day and never had to do it.

But had a real sexy brown Pontiac Bonneville, and a 78 Plymouth pick up. Total piece of crap but was fun to ditch dive with

Folks bought me a car to beat up while I learned to drive before buying something nice as a graduation/going-to-college gift. Behold, the 1986 Pontiac Sunbird. Yes, it was also a manual. I drove it like I was Mario Andretti.

I took driver's education, so the driving portion was completed by that. My first car was a 2dr 1980 Olds Cutlass Supreme. It floated like a boat and had no power. I miss that car. Was so comfortable!
