1967 Ford 1-ton truck with 9' bed. Painted orange. Named Dinosaur.

Edit: which experience, and teen years driving in ice and snow, as well as on unpaved roads, cemented my belief that I can drive anything well.

At 15 1/2 as soon as I could, I got my license in a 1965 Dodge Dart slant 6, I cut grass all summer and paid $200.00 for it! I felt like I owned a Cadillac! This was in the 70’s when gas was (55-60 cents a gallon). Ole goat here! Lived outside of Boston then!

1962 chevy wagon with 100,000+ miles on it, that I bought for 25 bucks.
Got my license on my 18th birthday. after driving this P.O.S of a car for about 2 years.

those of you that are older know how horrific these 50's - 60's car were. at 100,000 miles they were complete trash and a virtual death trap.

to change lanes in this car, all you to do was .. just had to give a quick snap at the steering wheel about 1" to 1-1/2" then hope you didn't go on the shoulder.. HA
lets not even talk about fluid leaks, suspension or brakes.

in Washington you had 2 choices to get a drivers license as a kid ..
16 with drivers ed. (only offered at high school) or wait till 18
since I didn't finish school I had to wait.

1984/5/6? Chevrolet S10 Blazer. Same color and wheels as in the pic.

Legend says it was powered by a V6, but when driving it you could swear that it harnessed the power of a hyperactive hamster.

    You'd need a calendar to measure it's 0 to 60mph time.

    Power windows? Yes.
    AM/FM radio? Yes
    Tape deck? Yes
PITA to get in the back seat? You bet

1966 Ford Country Squire. Car was a tank and a pig. Had a 352 4bbl. Might have got 10 mpg on a good day. Parents bought it new in Wisconsin prior to moving to Tx. Had to special order to get AC. Back then if you had AC it was rare and aftermarket.

Gosh, I don't remember the vehicle I used for the driver's test. It was in Northern Maine in the late-70's and, in those days, driver's ed was taught in High School. (I was a freshman) I don't know if my older brother brought me to the test or my Dad but my first car was a 1977 Mustang II which was just a POS Pinto rebadged. (I didn't even have the Ford V-8, it was the 4-banger.) I bought the 77 in 79 from a used car guy and it broke down on the drive home....I only paid $1,500 for it which was about $1,400 too much. That's a testimony to the junk Ford was making at that time...a 2-year old car breaking down.

The year was 1986 and the car was a Metallic Blue 1974 Ford Thunderbird. (Not this one but mine looked very similar). It was a family car that my dad had bought brand new.

So here is the funny part, my 2015 Tundra DC reminds me a lot of that first car. About the same length (T-Bird = 224.8" OAL, Tundra DC/SB = 228.9" OAL), width (T-Bird = 79.7", Tundra = 79.9") and similar weight (T-Bird = 4825lbs, Tundra DC/SB 4x4 = 5,470lbs) and they both have big old V8's that get crappy gas mileage! lol

But it's really the ride and drive experience, especially on the highway. Both are/were a dream to drive on the hwy... smooth, powerful and way too easy to go over the speed limit in! :burnrubber:

Did my road test in a right hand drive, 5spd manual transmission, 4cyl diesel, 1990 Toyota Hilux 4runner in 2006. My dad imported through a broker in Vancouver in 2005. Might have a pic or two around somewhere.

Pretty sure that's where my Toyota genes came from. The first truck I ever owned was a 1994 Toyota pickup 4x4 extended cab with the 22RE 4cyl.
