In Hawaii for vacation!!

I'm pumped for my trip back to the big island in January. Already booked the flights to Kona, now just going back and forth on the hotel booking. I can't decide if I should use all my hotel points which would cover all 8 nights (in a standard room), or keep them and pay out of pocket and get an upgraded room. I feel like the points per night in Hawaii are really high and I think I could get more value out of them by keeping them for future trips closer to home.
