No getting around the fact that the Tundra 5.7 is a thirsty beast. But it also depends on how you drive. Speaking for myself and my truck, I have very little concern with mileage. Average between 16-18 around town, have seen 20. Only time it drops is when I tow the boat.

Other than changing your driving habits there's not much you can do to improve your fuel economy, but there are plenty of things that you can do to make your MPGs worse.

The 5.7 in my Tundra is less thirsty than the carbureted muscle cars that I once owned, and it's much more reliable. I've been able to get a little better than 19 mpg on the highway from my Tundra, but only when I keep it at 65 mph or lower.

SO TRUE. More often than not, I see 18-19 MPG with my PRO. Only time I see poor gas mileage is when towing the boat = 12.5 MPG.

Use stock tires. Don’t drive faster than 65mph and don’t lift, supercharge or drive aggressively.

14 is pretty good. About average for these trucks even when stock. I am stock and get 11 in the winter and 14 in the summer.
On long trips on the highways I can get 15+ but I don't go 65 mph, usually 75-80.

Right on the window sticker is says 13/17 MPG so I'm not quite sure what you expected.

Oh BTW I had a Tacoma before this and that V6 got 2 mpg better than this V8. So it's not like a smaller truck will help.

Maybe unhook that big ass boat you're hauling around?

I've found that trying to get better fuel economy is a lot like trying to lose weight. It takes so much discipline and planning to make the slightest difference, and one small cookie, er, slip up sets you back so far - it's cruel and unfair. Best to just eat the damn cheeseburger with fries, not worry about it, and be happy!:burnrubber:

With gas at 1.25 to 1.60 a gallon right now (working in the Houston area atm) fuel mileage shouldn't be an issue. Now if gas was $3/gal again I could see the complaints. I've been everything but conservative with the skinny pedal with gas prices lately.

This is crazy. I haven't burned 1/4 tank of gas in the past 3 weeks. Had to cancel our fishing trip to Apalachicola Bay, and that sucks.

I added Ceratec to my 5.7 w/70k miles, within 1000 miles it improved 4/10 of 1 mpg even around town, it used to drop to 16.1 with more in town than highway miles, now it won't go under 16.5 in town. Just saying what MY experience is thus far, supposed to last close to 30k before another treatment is needed, per the 'structions. What I didn't do as suggested was use 2 bottles for the 5.7's oil capacity, only used one (since it costs $19 shipped), next time I'll try two.

how is that even possible? My 2020 SR5 CM 4x4 never got any better than 16 on the highway bone stock. Now that I have a 3 inch lift (stock wheels and tires) I only get at best 14.

Can't answer that, but it is absolutely possible. This photo is FOR REAL. This happens all the time when I drive from my house to my father in-laws house, one way is 33 miles. Most round town trips show between 16-18. But when I tow my boat, wow, like 10-12 mpg.

Thats crazy man, My drive to work is exactly 30 miles. Im light on the gas and its mostly highway miles. I keep it at 65 to 70mph and before the lift I got between 14 and 15 at most. I have never seen that number ever read over 16.5. Is your truck a 5.7l?

Here's my drive from this morning at 4am. No traffic, mostly highway, being super easy on the gas and keeping it at 65.

That's weird. We drove the same distance, but got 5 mpg difference. Not sure if Geography has much to do with it, but elevation would. All I use is 87 Octane gas, and I drive pretty easy but not stupid slow. That is just weird.

I only use 87 as well and drive pretty easy as well. I was thinking if the difference would be wheel and tire size as well. My truck has the TSS 20 inch wheels with 275/60s on it I believe. My elevation is currently 665ft above sea level.

My PRO has the factory Michelin's 275/65/R18 on the factory wheels. I run 44 psi (cold) on all four corners. Low air pressure will cause more friction and poor fuel economy. What PSI are you running? Sea level here is about the same as yours, 765 FT. Also the PRO has the factory dual exhaust, could make a small difference.
