Enough guys, I believe him. He just PMd me his list of mods. He forgot to mention the nitrogen in his tires. That’s good for another 50HP.

I don’t think some people realize the knowledge (and FACTS!) floating around this forum. All these modifications have been discussed and beaten to death at this point. If you’ve been around here and searched, you’ve already found that there is minimal horse power to be gained with any of those modifications. So I don’t think they realize how funny it looks, when someone with those mods and those claims of horsepower gained don’t match up. I don’t want to scare off the new guy and jump up his ass, because that’s not what we are about around here. But newcomers that state all these outrageous things like this, need to prove themselves first, with a little history about their knowledge.

Now maybe with some long tubes and custom tune, he could gain som hp at the flywheel....

My relationship with the internet is complicated. It tells me that I'm afraid of commitment and that I should be more invested, but I just don't feel all that attached so I just can't stick around and work things out when there's conflict.

I'll admit that I kind of dropped a bomb and walked away, but I stand by it. No way those 3 mods unlock 70 hp unless "hp" stands for hit points or something like that.

You gotta lighten up a little. I even gave you a way out of that one (remember...or that's a typo.) so you could save face and you didn't take it.

The internet can only hurt you if you let it.
Let's all move on now and participate in the 47th thread on tundras.com about improving fuel economy. I'm sure somebody has something magical to share that will make the 5.7 sip gas like a Prius.

I havent really done any official calculations but judging by what my truck likes to tell me after my last few mpg resets...

If im getting right on the highway after getting gas and am making one of my normal trips (55 to 65 miles give or take) it reads 14.8 to 15 mpgs. I tend to drive conservatively. 5 miles over the speed limit on highways.

Some simple trips to the stores here in town and holy sh@$#%!@! Its like i got a hole in my gas tank. 10.5 mpg, 12, ect.. 40 miles an hour and modest traffic/lights. The 5.7l doesnt like to dick the dog around town.

I think i average out in the nice mid 13mpg range. I do have larger tires and a little level lift. recently ive have been thinking my truck is just a tad off on my actual speed. very slight though. not sure if its enough to add up to anything meaning full.

oh, almost forgot. A couple weeks ago i added a bunch of fire ball decals in strategic places on my truck. I can see those dodge and chevy folks avoiding me now. They don't want the fire ball decal power!

@jpman112 (OP), I think you can pretty much gather that, due to the levity of the thread, getting higher MPGs on Tundras is very difficult. “Back in the day”, ads for throttle body spacers, CAIs, dual exhausts, air flow accerlerators, etc., were littered with claims of “increased MPGs”. You rarely see those claims anymore because they were bulldiggity. All of the mods aforementioned can get you more HP (conservatively), but GENERALLY, more HP = less MPG. The Tundra unfortunately has been falling behind in fuel economy versus the domestics, which are getting lighter (Ford aluminum) and have better cylinder management technology (GM), while even starting to have higher HP than our Tundras. BUT, MOST of us on this forum didn’t buy Tundras for fuel economy; we bought them because of Toyota reliability, the look and stance, and general baddassedness. Bottom line, as many of my friends said, you have to drive conservatively (like Granny Grits), and pray to Vulcan you got a “binned” engine (fellow nerds know what I mean by “binned” :D) that gets better MPGs than others.

Regarding possible perceived “intense” reactions to @Erock’s claims of 450HP, I’m kinda new around here too, but it still annoys me as much as the valued Tundras.com veterans around here when someone makes fantastic claims they cannot, or will not, substantiate. Present facts and treat others with respect on the forum, and your will not face the community’s sarcastic wrath!! :duel:

BTW, I haven’t done any engine/tire mods yet, and travel 50/50 highway and city miles, and get about 16.2 MPG on average.

    And finally, WELCOME!!

Yep, that goes for most car platforms though, so this guy must be a teenager with a first go at modifying anything. I've been around car forums since 2003 and clowns like the guy were given a good e-bitchslap.
