The first post needs to be updated to make it clear and stop all the panicking. There might be a whopping 151 affected 2007-2021 Tundras but only if you had steering parts replaced. Read the letter.

I pulled up my Toyota app that has my VIN number in it to utilize required check ups, recalls, engine status, etc.
It showed no recalls for my VIN.

The power steering went out on my 2021 Tundra Limited with 4500 miles on it in Florida while on vacation pulling my RV on December 6, 2020. Dealer still does not have all the parts to repair my truck. Waiting on some hose to come in, been all most 3 months.

I take it that it went out December of 2021 not 2020. Three months is a long wait but fifteen would be over the top!

Got my letter in the mail today. Since I haven’t had any steering rack work done previously I am in the clear.

So I should be good right ?:pccoffee:

Good, hate taking my truck in for anything. Although I have never taken it in for anything but inspections.:monocle:
But if I could, I would inspect it myself.

Hello gen 2.5 people aka the best gen of all times!

We appreciate any gen number greater than 2 and smaller than 3 and if my math is correct, we fall under that category.

I got the power steering gear recall letter today for my '16

according to the letter (big red box on the right), I haven't "replaced the steering gear since August 5th 2021" ... so sounds like this doesn't apply to me.

However, does this mean that Toyota can not track which vin numbers got the bad parts?

151 power steering gears have been identified as defective. If they know that, why can't they tell which cars (by vin #), got the bad parts? Just curious. You would think the parts for example have serial numbers and can be identified since they already know it's only 151 parts.

I am in the same boat with my 2021 Sequoia, just got the letter a few days ago.
I think Toyota is trying to cover a third-party repairs that used genuine OEM but potentially faulty steering racks. Just a bad batch of parts.

151 are potentially defective. Actual number is more like 25% of 151.
