How to remove camshaft for head gasket replacement. I'm feeling this is beyond my skill level I can't find information on line and don't fully trust Haynes manual not to mention it seems a little vague on the subject anyways. Install bolt , then remove im sorry but how would I remove it if I bolted it in, I've never owned a clean engine anyways. Think I should stick with water pump and timing belt cam seals pre vvt and just start putting it back together

Your engine is close (if not identical) to the 2003, so that FSM is appropriate for your head removal/replacement.

yeah, I found this odd too, but admittedly I haven't been into a 2uz yet.

After some brief looking the Headbolts are blocked by the camshafts.

Here's a good shot with the camshafts removed revealing the 10x headbolt locations.

No way your getting to those with the cams in.

This probably doesn't bode well for @USERidiculousNAME if this is his first head gasket job.
Also I have never really heard of a 2uz with a bad head gasket. Not saying it doesn't happen, but what makes you think this is the case?

My best guess is she got too hot, iron block, aluminum head.
