I joined this forum to get some help, if possible. I have a 2004 Tundra and love it. 2 years ago my better half bought a new camper.
Bc of this, I need a new truck. Her new camper has a max weight of 9700 pounds. I am looking at a 2023 Tundra. People are telling me that the new trucks won't haul this. I don't believe it.
The truck she fell in love with is a 1794 with a lot of stuff I didn't really need.
Please help out if possible. Thanks kpost

As far as towing on your current truck, this thread may be helpful: https://www.tundras.com/threads/gen-one-1-trucks…real-ability-to-tow-a-travel-trailer-weight-concerns.125345/

As far as towing on the newer trucks, I recommend to pick the subforum for the year range you're looking at, and ask them, the forum list is here: https://www.tundras.com/forums/

There's also a ton of info both for, and about your 1st Gen Tundra over here: https://www.tundras.com/threads/so-you-wanna-buy-just-bought-a-1st-gen-tundra-eh.115928/

Not sure what the current tow ratings are but I wouldn’t pull 10k behind any tundra or any other half ton pickup. I know my buddies eco boost ford is rated for 12.5k and I still wouldn’t do it with that. Time to jump up to one of the big boys imo unfortunately. Don’t buy a dodge.

Welcome from OKC! The new Tundra is filled with problems. Research and learn more before you get in too deep! Start with reading about the engine failures.

Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! Occasional towing of a 9700# trailer with a 1/2 ton truck might be ok with the proper WDH and being very conscious of tongue weight and careful driving. But a camper being pulled longer distances, and possibly more often? No, you need a 3/4 ton truck for much better handling and safety.

Well, thanks for all the help. I was really hoping that I could get a new Tundra, but I'm not rich enough to get both.
Anyone have any suggestions about a good 3/4 ton to get without spending a ton of money. Of course it will probably stay in the barn most of the time as fuel economy is bad.
Toyota doesn't make a 3/4 Ron do they? Kpost

No, much to a LOT of people's chagrin, Toyota does not make a 3/4 ton truck. There are a few on here that could give good guidance on a 3/4 ton truck. I would post in the General section about it. Not everyone monitors the New Intros forum.
