Illuminated ignition ring

Yes, I just removed the trim ring from the switch and swapped it out.
The ring simply 'snaps' on or off of the switch, you'll see the tab that holds it on..
I'm pretty sure the 'ring light' is on the same circuit of the little under dash floor board light.
They go on and off at the same time.
I have my custom puddle lights mod tapped into that circuit as well.

I had this in my 2005 Tundra and didn't realize how much I used it.

I read through everything, got the right part number, saw all the install pics, and was ready to order it up.

Something stopped me, and I went outside to check my truck... I already had the stupid lighted ring!
I never noticed it before, but now I look at it every time and say, "Nice that the truck came with at least one of these friggin options from the factory!"

 

Thank you for posting this! I ordered one today on eBay for 38 shipped. My wife's 2013 Sienna SE has one but for some reason, Toyota leaves them off of $40k trucks...

 

Same here. My wife drives a 2016 4Runner and it has bugged me that my 2019 TRD Sport didn’t include this. Ordered yesterday.

This is a great mod. Paid $36 all in and I’m happy with that. Took 15 minutes or so and back in business with a white LED light ring.

 

One thing to think about is that due to a pesky neuro-muscular disease I wouldn't be able to drive much of the stuff I drove 45 years ago. Semi's and cars and trucks with no power brakes or steering and the like. I'm not completely disabled but it sure makes it easier having some of the conveniences. Even a little light around the key switch for people like me that can't feel the ends of their fingers.

So it is 100% plug and play took 2 minutes. I purchased a used one from a 2011 Camry and it is the same part.

 

THAT is a good reason to have an illuminated ignition ring, Sir! Merry Christmas!

I got my part from Cool Spring Toyota the other day. I got it fast without expedited shipping. Installed it today and it took 5 minutes. Why aren't these standard?

 

Same. I have CMT disease. My eyes don't adjust as rapidly, either.

 

It’s easy cost reduction without sacrificing quality, durability and reliability. The part retails for $25, wholesale is likely half of this...$12.50 x Number of Tundras sold. It’s an easy way for Toyota to improve bottom line financial performance. Companies do this frequently.

 

It was more of a rhetorical question. I get the cost savings, but in the grand scheme of things, cost to the customer is negligible. Especially if you only manufacture it one way instead of two (or more).

Well I tried the cheaper route by getting one off Ebay but it does not work on my 16. I applied voltage and it does work but no use to me. It was 33 shipped to me if anyone is looking for this. PM me if interested

 

Did you plug it in to plug an then open the door.

 

That won't work in a Tundra for your year (2007 thru 2017) you need part #

Went to dinner last night and my wife was commenting on how much nicer it is to have the LED light ring installed. You won’t be disappointed.

 

That is good to hear, it just sucks i had to pay 115, and for the 2018 was like 30 bucks wtf. But im stoked for it.

 

Well I swapped out the -06020 one O bought from ebay with a -06021 and it also does not work in my truck. I popped the cover off and the light does work, in fact its the same 2 pins that power the led as the other part #.

 

If anyone wants this send me a message otherwise its going back to ebay
