As an owner of 2002, curious if your ring is illuminated with a bulb (that can be replaced) or did you have to replace the entire ring assembly? Thanks in advance.

I just replaced all of my dash lights including my ignition ring with red led bulbs in my 2000 tundra. It required 7 T-10 bulbs and 10 T-5 bulbs.the ignition ring required aT-5 bulb. I bought all the bulbs in led for under $15.00. I had blue and changed them to red.It took me about an hour to change them. While I had the dash cluster out I used some plasti-x and buffed the plastic clear. It turned out really good.

@Jim LE 1301 Do you know how many wires are in the connector that goes to the ignition ring? I installed it on my 2018 SR5 this morning and the ring did not light up.

You try opening your doors to see if the new assy will light up when plugged in?

Tried both the driver and passenger doors. The footwell lights up when the doors are opened but the ring does not appear to light up. Also tried it with the cabin light switch in all 3 positions but no bueno.

Might be time to test for continuity on the device and voltage on the incoming wires.

I finally decided to figure things out as they apply to my truck. I removed the bottom cover of the steering column to get the current part number (89783-04010) for the non-illuminated immobilizer, amplifier. I then used a dealer website to look up the number and fill out the information there that verifies the part fits my vehicle. I then input the part number (89783-06021) for the illuminated part and the website indicated that it also would fit my vehicle, so I ordered it; the spendier one naturally ($114).

What really got me going on this was that last night I noticed my puddle lamps weren't working when I unlocked the truck while walking toward it, then I noticed the dome lights weren't working either. When I opened the driver's door, oh look, the stepwell lamp is out too. What the heck. Hey, I can't fricking see to put my key in the ignition.....fast-forward to....Order placed.

    Tangent:
Of course I had to determine what was going on with the other lights too. I stretched some wires when I had the lower panel off for the wiring harness for the Sequoia LED lamps I put in last week (option 1 has a wire that needs to be connected to the factory harness under the driver's side dash and I was rather ham-fisted due to being in a rush. That caused a short and popped a fuse (dome) in the engine compartment. I'm not sure if that took out the stepwell lamp (burned filament) or not, but the fuse was replaced and the puddle lamps/dome lamps are back up, and I'll get another lamp for the stepwell this week if I can muster the free time.

If you used an led bulb, then remove the bulb and turn it 180 degrees and re-install it.that should work

So here's the wierd thing. the 4 pin connector has 2 wires on pins 1 and 4. I took a 9 volt and put it on 1 and 4 but it did not light up. Reversed the polarity in case i had it incorrect but it did not light up either. Then by mistake, the probe slipped and i saw it light briefly. Applied the 9v on pins 2 and 3 and it lit up.

So unless I'm mistaken, it looks like pins 1 and 4 power the ignition amplifier but 2 and 3 power the LED but my connector only has 2 wires. However, Jim LE 1301 said his has 2 wires and his lights up so i'm stumped.:notsure:
