Well, it’s my money, so my opinion is the only one that matters. As far as the Ford. I got burned, so I can talk as much shit about them as I want. If your Tundra gets recalled and you have to deal with an engine replacement, I’m guessing you may have some negative things to say for the foreseeable future.

I did that yesterday figuring there were more Dogrunner2s out there that will support Toyota no matter what. Bought at $210 and it's down to $207 now. Come on home boys convince your friends there is no issue at all to buy a $75,000+ truck.

If it gets down to $200, I will buy more.

It will have to go back to 2014 price. If Toyota flubs it or the cheating was more wide spread, you may see that. I'm betting on the devoted and Toyota's past track record of fixing the ones out now.

Heck they have convinced buyers that $75,000 or more is a good price for a 1/2 ton pickup truck. Folks fell for it.

I think the wrong reason to buy but for a hold it's probably a decent play. The hybrid positioning is key. China is the problem but they can navigate that . I own some but it's got nothing to do with a love of Toyota or Tundra problems.

On a pedestal? Pretty sure I didn’t say anything like that. I had higher expectations from them based on owning 2 Camrys that never once saw the inside of a dealer’s service bay and my son’s years of trouble free ownership of a Tacoma.
And if you’re experience with Toyota has been that miserable, what are you doing hanging around this forum???

Have you checked out a Ford, GM, or Ram lot lately, $75K MSRP is pretty much going rate for a new well equipped, but not top of the line 1/2 ton.

The media is having (going to have) a field day with it similar to the accelerator pedal/floor mat mess back years ago. "Yay!!! Stop the presses, look!! The mighty Toyota Corp messed up!!!!"

I blame the folks that bought them for that and higher. Now each manufacturer is loaded with overpriced trucks as people have stopped buying them.

I'd only pay that for a 3/4 ton and up that I can make money with.

How much did the vehicle or home cost when interest rates were 13%?

I learned a valuable lesson with the first year Tacoma. Traded that for a 2.5 Tundra. I would suggest find a 2nd Gen, throw on a blower, drop pulley, bigger injectors, tune and enjoy life. Just my opinion.

I paid $14k for a 1983 Supra with flares and all that stuff. 14% interest Bought a condo in Aurora CO 1982 and rates were 16% subsidized my the city.
The Supra had avibration I could never fix and the condo went down in value. Sometimes the good old days weren’t so good.

On the other hand, you could get 12% CDs... which still didn't keep up with inflation.

Double digit inflation, unemployment and interest rates. The great news is that coming out of that cycle there were a lot of opportunities. My point was more around the cars and housing not exactly being well made. The Supra was the best Toyota had to offer and it wasn’t a great car. I loved the next gen though.

That was a cool car and I considered buying one. I remember trolling the dealers when they first dropped and found a beautiful black one and opened the door to check it out. A guy walked over and said please don't do that, I just bought it! LOL. Sorry.

You wait 4 months to get your truck back, stay positive, negotiate with corporate Toyota, negotiate with dealership, and when you still don't get your truck back or any date, hire and attorney and buy a gmc. Trust me you are going to love it when you get there

When you make ~$30,000 per year $10,000-15,000 purchase price and the 13-15% interest on that were heinous. Different times different numbers but actually worse then. Now someone makes $100,000 - $150,000 and buys a $50,000 truck at 5%. Quit yer beachin.

Hahahah I'd rather walk than own a GMC anything. Cheap Chevy with the bolts tightened a bit more.

Learned a hard lesson with Chrysler. Never, ever again. Ever. Did I mention "never"?

I'm a lifelong Ford guy (still have 2 in my driveway, purchased many new since the 1980s) but was scared off by cam phasers, plastic oil pans, and electrical maladies widely reported in the 2023 F150 when I was shopping. That being said, if I ever got disgruntled with Toyota that's probably where I'd go. The 3.5EB was thirsty as hell but kicked ass.

My previous two Tacomas were good. I have gambled with my money that the Gen 3 will be fine. Time will tell. Until then... not worried at all!

Yes, LOL... looks like it may be a bit of mass extinction event for us die hard Toyota guys. But I still wouldn't drive a GM or Ford. And I REALLY wouldn't drive a RAM.
