They all have legs. It’s only like 9 miles from Lake Como to the highway from 12,000 - 8,000 feet in altitude.

I mean, don't want to break down up there but I've taken a rental sedan across it. It's not the gulag.

Ha. The first pic is from mineral creek to animas forks to California pass and out Red Cone. I’m sure you could do it in a Smart Car.

The scenery up there is unreal. Must visit for anyone into this type of thing.

Most small claim courts top at $5K. This issue exceeds that by a lot.

I've driven a mid sized rental over Ophir to cut from US550 to the Delores River. I've also taken a Jeep and my F250. Black Bear is a different story.

The section from Ouray to Durango up the Delores to Telluride to Rideway is IMO the prettiest part of Colorado and I'm from there. It's still pretty much like old Colorado. Hard to get to but worth it IMO.

There is all the 4x4 up there you can eat. Everything from easy to scare the shit out of a veteran off road guy. For me, the easiest thing to do is stay in Ouray or for something nicer Telluride. Great hikes. 10/10 for families. My kids have their initials carved in lots of trees. Also Mesa Verde. Highly recommend with any Tundra. A sample trail list is below.

Toyota sold more tundra’s in 2023 than any year since 2008. None of them should be failing but I’m not concerned as I believe the failure rate isn’t high. Hundreds of thousands of 3rd Gen tundra’s sold and a few engine failures is all. My brother bought a Sierra Denali that had the injectors fail at about 1,000 miles. My work has a 2022 F150 5.0 that has spent weeks in the shop at a time for various issues. At the end of the day I still trust my Toyota Tundra more than the other truck options.

You have a few seconds of sharply decreasing speed to make it safely to the side of the road. If your thinking is sharp you make it safely.

I had a few occasions of engine cutouts on highway due to my failures as tree shade mechanic. Unpleasant, yes, but I'm still chugging around.

After 16 years of owning a 2nd Gen that I bought brand new in ‘07, it would be dumb of me to buy anything else. In that time, I replaced 1 starter, 1 radiator, and 1 wheel bearing. That’s pretty remarkable.
I was on another forum way back when and remember hearing similar horror stories about major failures.
If you need a new truck, go buy one. Toyota makes some good stuff. I grew up on Fords and learned how to be a driveway mechanic because of them.
